Default intake options

Hey guys, i have an 01 ws6 with the ls6 intake and i was wondering what intake i could upgrade to that i will see some gains with? I WONT be going heads or cam.

Keep the LS6. Nothing else is worth it if you're not touching the heads or cam.

I agree with these guys, without heads and cam there isn't much out there that will do better.

well that sucks, considering a small heads cam swap is normally over $1,000 with install. A buddy of mine did an aluminum intake (lingenfelter?), and he picked up some hp from it, but with those come heat soak right?

You're not going to see gains from anything but a FAST, and even then you're only looking at a few hp if anything....... keep the LS6.

at this point I would just pay for a small cam swap vs. spending the same money for an intake.

A small to moderate cam will net you more hp than a fast. But to answer your question, yes, the aluminum ones are prone to heat soak (but that's a largely debated topic).

If you have about 1k to spend, and want a little more power, then I say keep your intake (port your throttle body) and put a little cam in. Otherwise, leave it as it is.

sounds good. im to the point where if i want more power, i gotta go internal- cam, heads

lol i didnt know it was a myth. i never really looked into intakes before. I heard that street warrior intake was supposed to be good, but came out to be junk

well since the street warrior intake never came out it is a myth lol just like the heat soak argument

you could do your own cam swap for $700 ,check out a TSP cam kit.go to ls1howto.com for instruction on a cam swap.
