Default M6 guys what size tire do you run?

I'm on a 27x10 hoosier QTP right now and the car needs more traction. car is in the 550hp range. i'm starting with suspension adjustments but, I have been looking at the 28x10.50 stiff. I have a 4.10 gear currently and i'm wondering if the car needs this much tire or will it bring my rpm down goin through the traps and hurt me. maybe only suspension tweaking can make this car work. but I am finding that a car with a T-56 is pretty difficult to pull a real fast 60ft.

what tires are you guys runin on your 6-speeds and what gear ratio? post your 60ft time and 1/4 mile et if possible.

I make 400 rwhp give or take and I am already ready to go to 28" tall and this is due to the fact that 26" works fine for now all motor but with adding 100-150, the taller tire is needed. I may up the gearing too, we will see

Here's a pass of my car on the 26x10.5x16 MT bias ply ET Streets and stock 17" 10-spokes up front (1.58 60'): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKVCiIRMRWw

The setup is a mild H/C that put down 408/380 SAE on a dynojet through the 3.5" driveshaft and 12-bolt. 4.10s and an MN12 T56 for the gearing (shorter 1-3 and 5-6 but same 1:1 fourth gear). I went through the traps at 121 with my shift light coming on at 6500 in fourth (I was probably over 6500 but the limiter was 7000 and I never touched it).

I was on stock shocks and springs. Suspension mods are all BMR: adjustable TA, LCA's with relocation brackets, weld-in subframes, adjustable panhard bar (didn't need it but got a ridiculous deal on it), tranny relocation crossmember. Some adjustable shocks would have done wonders for me, not to mention lighter wheels up front.

The car was technically over full weight at 3,500 without me in it (the heavier suspension, 12-bolt, and amp in the back added some weight over the 3,450 it weighed in at stock).

What 60' times are you getting out of your current setup?

1.78 spun threw 2 gears. only got 2 passes in so far because the track was rediculously busy.

Im running the 28x10.5 ET Drags. Car made 754rwhp. Pulling 1.55 60s and one 1.45 with some VHT in front of the tires haha. Ran a best of 10.5 so far. Get you some rear QA1s. They will help plant the tire on the launch.

I had the 27/10.5/16 MT ET streets(no longer making these) and could not consistently hook.
Went with 28/13.5/15 QTP and man what a difference. Went from 1.75 best with MT's to 1.5X the first time out. I think there is some more in them with more rpms at launch. M6,530+RWHP, some suspension mods. Good luck, Ken

Fast forward to 2:00 minutes, 28x 13.50 qtp's, 439 rwhp, 3105 lbs, shifting slow and not one of the cleanest launches but still a 1.43 60'. I built the suspension, no off the shelf parts.

best 60' = 1.45
Best ET = 10.90

28x10.5x15 Stiff wall. Madman advised on the Stiff wall with a 6 speed. I run 4:56 gears and go through the traps at about 7200 rpm. My average 60' is around 1.5.

If you can't find a stiff tire in the size you're looking for, running an inner tube will help stiffen it up. Make sure you check the "actual" tread width. Some of the ET Streets list the width as 10.50, but only have 8.5-9" of contact width. For instance a 26x10.50-15 only has a tread contact width of 8.8". JEGS usually lists the section width (widest part of sidewall), and tread contact width so you can determine a better size for your needs.

Good luck.

Mike
