MSD 8.5mm Red wires, how to install?

MSD 8.5mm Red wires, how to install? I just picked up a set of these and took them to my shop to install in my 1994 TransAm GT. They said they cannot because of the width of the wires.
The ends and lengths are OK but because of the width they say it will not fit into the retainer or clips of the stock 7mm wires. As such they say it is unsafe and they will not install them.
Any ideas?
