I put a built 98 block LS1 in my 2006 L59 5.3L Tahoe. My question is.. Is the flex-plate mounting depth on the crank different? Right now there is just under a half inch gap between the converter and the flex-plate. I did also put in a stall converter, and am not sure if it is the conveter that is causing the issue, but I doubt it. Any ideas?.. will add a pic soon. Thanks

did you turn the converter tell the notches slid on the pump

Yes, the converter is all the way on. I think you are thinking the opposite. Here is a pic..

I think you could probably put washers in there to make up for the gap. I am not sure If I would want to pull the converter any further away from the transmission than you need to.

Bump. Any Help???? I'm about to just fill the gap with washers as wrong as that seems to me. I can not come up with a reason as to why this is like this. The LS1 block is the same as the 5.3 block right? Maybe the converter is wrong, I guess I'll find out. Any help would be great. Thanks guys.

which way is the dish on the flex plate facing? The belled side should face the trans... Just a thought? Who made the converter?

Plate is on the same way it came off.

So which way is the dish facing? Which motor did it come off of the 5.3 or the LS1?

It came off the 5.3 and the dish is facing the right way. I called a friend of mine that is a GM tech and he said that gap is normal and the bolts are of to just pull the converter to the flexplate. Now I just started the motor and have no oil pressure. Gotta pull the front cover and see if I can check the o-ring. ugh.
