yup those damn tivex suits are like a giant trashbag, sun equals heat, then throw gloves, boots and mask, it's easily 130+ in those damn things!

I'd have to agree. Tyvek, gloves, boots, and a full face resiprator sucks in the summer. I'm glad I'm a desk jockey now, although for $23/hr net.... I'd go sweat again.

I'd custom make a hazmat suit with a fan or something to recirculate the air. No biggie. I'm not to worried about the heat.

I'm just worried about finding a place to live now...

I hope this **** looks good on a resume. I need some oil and gas experience before i try to get a job with ExxonMobil.

I doubt someone in the oil and gas industry would consider remediation of a spill as oil/gas industry experience.

You'll soon learn the ways of the Tyvek suit. Don't be suprised when your hands start peeling because they've been setting all day in the waterballoon of your own sweat that your gloves will turn into.

Yep I have to go into a controlled environment sometimes at my job wearing the tyvek, gloves etc., and I'm inside with A\c and it get hot inside the suit. Sure lots of baby powder\gold bond would help out in the heat.
Good luck and glad to see people motivated to work plus $23 hour + ot for a year or maybe more would make a good nestegg or buy lots of go fast goodies.

Why would you say that? I need all of the exp I can get before I graduate. I think it won't hurt a bit. I see it as a "community service" project type of work. Sure it will blow *****, however but I can say that I helped clean up the largest oil spill in history.

Yes, that job would blow *****. I would rather stay in Denton, inspect cars, and go to summer school.

$23/hr net? Show me a pay stub from one of these janitors of oil. 23/hr net means they're either Claiming Married and 8 or making over 30/hr making more than most do on platforms.

And if by a .001% chance they are making this much they can have it. Cleaning up **** in LA is a never ending task.

In history? IN HISTORY!?!?! They just told you thanks for coming to the interview and they didn't say another word, ANOTHER WORD.

Sorry but cleaning up crap on a shitty beach isn't what they look for in operators.

The jobs ive seen where around 10 to 12.. I dont even see you starting at 23 with your HAZWOP.

its a lot easier said then done. Ive been in a tyvex suit during the summer and it blows. If you make a custom one your gonna need to makes tons of them. Im willing to bet your gonna use 3 or more a day.

Chances are if you're wearing a hazmat then it's because of the air quality and must be intrinsically safe since oil tends to trap flammable gases. And good luck with that.

I would be willing to bet that exxonmobile doesn't even notice on your resume you helped pick it up....

guess it also depends what your trying to get on board with on exxon...
