Default lost low end/power after header install

I just finished a Pacesetter long tube header and TSP ORY pipe install on my 2002 Camaro. After some playing around with the cat back + y pipe, everything fits great and clearance is good.

I have SLP Loudmouth I cat back and off road Y, so I'm essentially running open exhaust, and I feel like I've lost a lot of bottom end...which I suppose is to be expected, given my exhaust setup - but I feel that it's too much...as in the tires dont roast off out of first anymore.

Is this due to lack of back pressure in my exhaust system? I plan to put a Borla bullet muffler in the place of the resonator on the loudmouth exhaust to tone it down and get rid of the rasp. Is what I'm experiencing normal? Would the addition of a bullet style muffler resolve this? I've only driven it about 15 miles since getting everything on, but I did several WOT runs through 3rd and it just feels like it "should be more".

Any input or advice is greatly appreciated!

mine also felt much slower after my pacesetters and ory, once I got it tuned at a shop it pulled alot harder in the higher rpms. Even after the tuning the bottum end still feels a bit weaker than before but yea you need to get it tuned, then you'll be able to feel the difference

get a good tune on it(not just a dyno tune but a full street driveability tune) and it will feel a lot stronger than stock

^ Any tuner worth the $450 SHOULD do a street and drivability tune on it as well as WOT runs. Slowhawk in MA is excellent for this. he sets the street tune first, then dials in the WOT runs.

No cats move the power SLIGHTLY from low end to up top due to the slight restriction with the cats. Get it tuned.

$450??? I hope it doesn't cost that much, that's more than my headers set me back.

^ Dyno tunes aren't that cheap, but you'll end up running pig rich if you don't get it tuned. Almost anything you do with these cars you need to get it tuned. Dyno tunes will net you a SOLID gain from the LT's. You hurt your power without the tune.

Yeah, I dunno. My car definitely feels a good deal less powerful under 3k RPM...before I could hit the throttle around 2.5k RPM in first and just roast the tires off...now they don't really spin at all (traction would be a good thing of course, if it wasn't for the way it was happening). It feels like it pulls pretty hard in the higher RPM's, but I don't know.

The ORY + LT + Loudmouth combo sounds like complete crap. I need to figure out what to swap in place of that resonator pronto.

I just put in my SLP long tubes and catted Y, it feels extremely weak in all RPM ranges compared to stock. Not throwing any codes or anything, and probably running rich. Oh well, tune coming up hopefully that will get it back where it should be.

Well I will be having it tuned Wednesday evening, and I am having an XR-1 muffler overnighted to me which I hope to have installed tomorrow or Wednesday...so I guess we'll see what happens after the muffler and tune! *crosses fingers*

get it tuned after you mod it. remember if your mil lamp is on you will be running off your low octane table only which is less timing. that along with the fuel ratio being off can make a world of a difference. i got a buddy that put longtubes on his fbody and didnt have it tuned and wants to put the stock manifolds back on because the car lost its *****.

mil light is your ses light. Malfunction indicator lamp is what its also called because in some cars it says ses and in some it’s a picture of a engine

Engines don't like back pressure. It has nothing to do with low end torque. You do want the proper pipe length after the collector, there are "wrong" lengths that will cost you torque though.

Doesn't matter how it "feels," back pressure is always bad. The less power the engine has to use pushing exhaust out, the more power gets to the wheels. Gas velocity however is a different story. You can go too big on the piping and ruin your scavenging. That will kill low end torque.
