Wrapped my CAI tube, with COOL IT THERMO TEC heat shield wrap. I trimmed a small section of material out and laced it on. Took about 15mins. I've been driving around all week with no problems. And according to my IAT readings, It's working great! Temp is about 7-15* hotter then ambient air temp while cruising. Sitting at a long light after getting off of the freeway, I still heat up, just not as bad. It takes much longer. I let my engine heat soak for a while, while getting something to eat. And after leaving the parking lot, I was only reading 88* on a 59* day. This was after driving around all day. Good mod for 50.00 bucks. The biggest thing that I have noticed is that after heat soaking my IAT sensor cools down much quicker.

That's pretty cool! I might do this even with the HSRK.

A couple of years ago, when trying to figure out IAT/ECT bias tuning, I insulated my MAF. Agree that it keeps things a bit cooler, and definitely cools down faster after heat soaking.

Definitely worthwhile.

I'm going to relocate my IAT sensor next, and use the Omega 44005 resister.

can I get that in a size 13? Haha, no seriously though, that's a good mod for exactly what you said, while crusing it won't make much of a difference but when you shut it down and let it sit for a period of time and then drive again you won't heat soak as much. Like for example with my HAI, I see about 5-10 above ambient while I'm cruising but if I park it for say ten minute and then come back my temps are well above 100*. They quickly cool off after I start driving again but you catch my drift.

I have done this exact IAT relocate. It was fairly simple if you have any soldering experience at all. I put the IAT in the end of the cone filter in my CAI box.

I think I would wire tie it rather than use a shoe lace. Just thinking about fire hazard or having it come untied and getting caught in something. Great idea though!

why remove the heat shield off the header crossover?

why remove the heat shield off the header crossover?

Heat shield hit the tb to maf coupler. :bang:

This little mod is really working. I can't believe the difference!

Ground down the ears of the maf, and sprayed it out with some maf cleaner. The wrap now fits on a lot tighter, and I tucked away the bowties. My maf was dirty. It had small dust particles on the plate and black stuff went oozing out when I sprayed it.
Somebody else do this! I have extra wrap.
