I lost the key to my wheel locks, and I need to take off my wheels. I went to discount tire, and they could do it, but looking at those highschool kids, I didn't feel comfortable letting them do it for fear they'd screw up my wheels. Not to mention i've had bad experiences with them.

You guys have any recommendations? I live in the league city area.

Nor sure what kinda locks you have but years ago I had the same problem and using a socket that is slightly smaller than the outside diameter hammered on there did the trick.

^^i've heard that also. never had to try it though. maybe someone local on here will have the same key. if not, i'd give that a shot.

If you lived closer I could probably have helped you out. I have about 15 wheel lock removers. The socket way is a easy way to do it to, Just make sure you use a shirt around the socket so you don't damage the wheel. Good luck.

I honestly let discount do mine and they did a pretty good job .. didn't touch my wheel at all. They just do the flat head hammer trick

I would call around to your local tire shops. There actually is a tool made to remove wheel locks and a good shop might have one.

Let the discount tire shop do it. Let them do your worst wheel and let them show you how it comes out before they start the other ones. If they screw it up, They have to pay you for a new wheel. I had a car that had a wheel with curb scratches and all that crap, I ended up gettin a brand new wheel.

I had NTB remove one of my old T/A. They had something that drilled into the lug and 'bit' into it to remove it, didn't harm the wheel at all.

Since then, I never use wheel locks. If someone wants your wheels, they're taking them one way or another.

take you nitrous bottle and point the nozzle at it and open it full blast until it starts to build up dry ice on it then hit it with a hammer and it will crack and fall off... lol
jk dont do that, get a wheel lock remover or take it to someone with one.

depends on what wheel... breaking the wheel lock off is the easy part getting it not to scratch the wheel is the trick especially when there is not much room from the lug to the wheel... it can be done but i dont think all the managers would pay for a new wheel if they scratch your wheel while doing that due to the fact that it's not their fault you lost your wheel lock and need us to break it off... iunno i know when cust. ask me to break them off i tell them before hand it might scratch the wheel and if they are not comfterable with that then they say no... i can do it but i wouldnt want to be the one to **** up your wheel. just some food for thought

Not to hijack but I'm missing the key to my 02 Camaro SS and I know I have the key to my 98 Trans Am somewhere I just have to find it. Would that work or are they totally different keys?

chances are they are diff but you never know you might just luck out and it be the same... they only made like 15 diff "combinations" of wheel locks...

I had mine removed at NTB 2 years ago. They charged me something like $45/ea. Luckily.. I guess... I only had 3 locks that needed to be removed. lol.

There is a reverse socket that you can buy. Looks like a regular socket except it will grab the lug when you loosen. Oversized socket can work too if you can get it on there good. Will need to put the socket in a vise though and get a punch to get the lug out afterwards though.

Irwin makes a nice bolt/lug extractor kit. I have used it a few times and works like a charm

a tight fitting socket works really well, beat on with a BFH. Def depends on the wheel though, if the lugs are close you dont want to take a chance of nicking the wheel. Used to do tires back in the day and would get people on al the time who lost their locks.
