Default New personal best Friday night

Took the car to the track for the first time this year. Made a few changes over the winter. Took out the FLT 4L60E and Circle D converter and swapped in a TH400 and the new 230mm Circle D 5C. I also did some more weight saving this year with a VFN hood and strange brakes on the front. The car is a cam only car with a Fast 92/92. My best pass last year was a 10.81@124. Heres the breakdown of Fridays runs.

1st pass 10.75 @127 with a 1.56 60' lol car spun
2nd pass 10.75 @127 accidently short shifted 3rd. 1.53 60'
3rd pass 10.69@127. 1.49 60'
4th pass 10.66@127 1.47 60'
5th pass 10.66 @127 1.47 60'

Ran out of time that night. I got to figure out where the best rpm is to launch the car. Im still leaving off the foot brake. The last 2 passes i left around 3400. I hope to see some 1.3X 60's next time out and hopeully some 10.4Xs! Heres some pics of the weight saving i did this winter. As for what it weighs, i havent a clue yet. Still got to get it on the scales.

just look at the list and it says you raced in 2000ft da...

and pulled 127 mph at 3125 weight...that is the fastest cam only car I have ever seen...

what were the weather conditions that day at the track I use a different da calc...

sweet mph for sure you will be going 10.2s if you catch good air

The temp was around 78 degrees give or take a few. But it was really humid as it had rained the previous 3 days that week. The track I race on is KCIR in Kansas City, MO. Last year with the 4l60 i was consistently getting 1.42/1.43 60's. So im hoping i can get it down to some 1.3X this year and make some good passes. I still have to put a ram air setup on the car too.

Im hoping with a little shot at the end of the year i can squeeze a 9 second pass out of it. Ya i got to figure out a way to make a ram air setup for my car. Since i redid the bumper support and core support it kinda changed things up front a little. Plus i have a huge tranny cooler up there too. Ill snap some pics of how everything is up front. Im really impressed with the cam. Id recommend it to anyone.

As for more pics of the weight reduction, there isnt too much more. I can snap some of the finished product of the front end. Ive taken the basics out of the car, heat/ac, p/s, and all the little things that can be removed form the inside. Added a Kirkey. But i still have the Monsoon stereo in there lol. Outside the car the front end obviously, rear bumper support and the excess metal behind the front fenders, Strange brakes all around and the hood. Its a real simple setup with the basic weight reduction. I spent some time going through the wiring in the car. I probably took out a few pounds there. I went back the next Friday and ran a 10.65 but the DA was almost +3000. I need some of that negative DA air up here. lol. Ill go snap some pics and post them up.

That's some nice times.
What type of material are the pipes used on the front end? Does it change the weight that much?

The front end is cro moly. im not to for sure on the weight. I still need to scale the car and see where its at. Since i did that, relocated the battery, and put the hood on, I had to lower my car about an inch in the front.

All the front end work was done by 1cdub here on the boards. He also did my cage, sub frame connectors, SYA bars, and a few othere odds and ends. The man is one helluva fabricator.

That just seems so unbelievable to me...I'm hoping for 120-121 with my new heads and everything....but we're talking a full weight vert (minus spare and jack and a/c). I'm obviously already at a big disadvantage with a vert... I need to ditch my passenger seat, relocate battery, and start dropping weight off the nose of the car. I think a new hood and k-member is in the mix in the near future.
