3,360lbs 99 m6 t-top without my 250lbs ass in it, almost full tank of gas, full interior with spare and jack, 6 quarts of oil, buffer, helmet in t runk. this is a non chopped up DD car. I still have to add brm k-member and remove sway bar :)
Nitroused383
05-25-2010, 02:51 PM
What do you have removed out of it? That doesn't sound like a pig to me, my car weighs 3550 lbs with a full tank of gas.

What all is taken out?

05-25-2010, 03:01 PM
Just VFN glass hood, convo pro drag wheels with all season tires, and ac compressor and condenser is off the car for now and magnaflow bullet with turndown, QA1's. The SFC,LCA's,LCA relocation brackets added weight. I bet with buffer, oil, tire and jack it would be in the 3200's. I need to add the bmr k-memeber and remove the sway bar :) lol oh and i just filled my windsheild washers fluid up lol

My 01 SS weighed 3425 with full 10lb nitrous bottle, half tank of gas, Billet Streetlites all the way around(15x4 15x10) Hoosier slicks and skinnies no front sway bar and BMR adjustable rear anti-roll bar and 12 bolt rear. This is also with no driver. Car still has everything in it, A/C, leather, stereo, bass tube and amp

My 69 'bird is at 3650 race weight on a certified state scale, that's with 210 of me and a 1/2 tank of fuel in it. Even the old ones are pigs.

That's not bad for a steel car though. Most of these newer cars are made of plastic. Really no reason they should be so heavy at all.

You get more structure for crash safety plus the carpet is thicker, sound deadener, etc all add up in a hurry.

I wont say what Mine weighs with me in it. But I would kill to be 250 pounds....
Anyways, thats not to bad. Camaros are heavier on average, even with same options. and I have a fully loaded 12 bolt and man this thing is heavy. With 385 rwhp I trap 113. I got a buddy with a little more power (405ish) in a camaro, VERY same drivetrain 6 speed 12 bolt, but weighs maybe 165 trapping 118 so beleive me weight makes a difference.

with my 250lbs ass and My stuff i carry with me like tools and detailing kit would of added 110lbs if it were in it like they always in it in florida so i was street racing at 3,720lbs. my best et is 11.6 and best mph is 120, but on the 11.6 pass i only hit 118mph that was on zr1 17x11 wheels with 315 M/T and no qa1's or glass good :)

Like said, Yup, you gotta work for it, and having a better platform (see Camaro) will help and making sure it stays a Aluminum block will help too. Most people need to spend $$$ at that point and also the car has been basically totally gutted.
When it comes to racing where driver is factored in, getting the most capable and lightest driver is a very important thing.

Where do you guys weigh your cars? I only race TNT and they never have scales going.. I would love to know what my car actually weighs...

You can weigh it at your local dump. Also some diesel service places.

i have friends with scales but i used cat scales lol i weight 250lbs and when i got off the scale the guys asked if i was 250lbs so they are dead on. If your driving down the interstate and see big yellow sign at a gas station that had CAT on it pull up on scales and i hope u can reach the bottom and then go inside it will be like 6$-$10 :) You even get a re weight if you want to lol

What increments do they measure in? I weighed my car at a local pilot with certified cat scales one time and it was exactly 3400lbs, but I didn't know if it went in 50lb-100lb increments or what..

when i weighed my car about 2 years ago mine weighed 3660lbs (i'm 230-235) i had a few items in the car that were prob 10-15lbs. i believe i had about a little or half a tank cuz i remember filling her up before heading to the track for the first time in MD.
i have no options, no tcs, not even a pop hatch which i didn't know our cars were supposed to come with haha. People thinks it's odd i have no pop hatch. maybe i'm a lucky one with a stripper model i suppose, which is cool to me. nothing was removed at all btw...oh, and it's a t-top which makes the car too me...
does anyone find this odd or is this average for m6 w/ no options? from what i've seen on this forum i have one of the lightest versions. not sure what it weighs now though.

Ya gotta have faith...lol My car is probally lighter than yours, and I have 13ftlb more tq at peak and probally more than that through the mid range. The lighter it is the more of a chance the 10bolt stays together. I'm still being nice to it when I take off too.
