Change the moter mounts to polyurethane. That stoped my Y pipe from hitting the floor.

Someone posted this in a thread I made about my Y pipe banging.

http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...mid=75&sid=528

My Y pipe didn't rub when I first installed all the headers and had clamps bolting the Y pipe together, but after the exhaust shop took the clamps off and welded it, apparently the routing changed slightly enough to make it rub.

Has anyone used this product before? I'm VERY interested in hearing about peoples' experiences with it, as I have no desire to do the motor mount swap myself and it'll cost me ~$350 to pay a shop to do it, plus the cost of the motor mounts.

to each his own but I'd much rather fix it correctly and install some poly mounts. converting your exhaust and headers into a motor mount to cover up broken/worn mounts just seems like a bad idea to me.

I get what you're saying, but I didn't have a problem before the shop welded up my pipe so they must have changed the fitment slightly. I don't know...I don't want to drop the $400 to fix a y pipe fitment issue.

Default Pipes

I do it the old fashion way. Put the car up , and crawl under , and look for the parts that are rubbing . Use a pry bar and a floor jack to "reshape" it .lol

I used this idea to stop the knocking from the exhaust, since I haven't had the time yet to replace my motor mounts. It took care of the banging, and only cost a few dollars at autozone.

I've used it, and yes it works. I've also got it sitting on my shelf in my garage because I eventually went to poly mounts... I guess I need to sell it, lol.

LPP's y-pipe came with one also. I have stock motor mounts and only have a slight vibration on take-off.
