I always wondered what would be the outcome from a roll between these 2 cars from about a 60 roll

ls1 auto with 3.23 gear ratio 4000 stall vs 4.10 gear m6 ls1

Who would take the cake until about 140????

considering both cars are lid/catback both

thanx

stalled autos are nasty from jsut about any speed. id give the advantage to the auto but with the 4.10's the stick may take it but slap some 3.73's in the auto and look out!

The only time my stall impresses me from a roll is when I'm not in one of the dead spots my stock stall had. You know what I'm talking about; when you punch it at like 42 and it doesn't downshift, but at 35 it will catch rubber and shoot off. With my stall, it's always in a sweet spot, but doesn't always have that snatch to it.

From a dig, however................... :)

a properly built auto with a stall will eat a 6speed from a roll or dig ....trust me i know ive raced tons of similarly modded camaros with a 6speed from a roll with my stalled auto and i easily have walked them except for a member on here who had 410s he gave me a door to door run untill 100mph then i would walk

high stalled cars loose efficiency up top. Stock stalls are more efficient in high rpms but give up more on the upshift (meaning drop more rpm). Both have advantages and disadvantages. From a lower speed roll (say 40-50) the stalled auto can hang with an equally modded M6 with a good driver, quite possibly get out a bit at first. If the M6 driver is badass, and all mods are equal, I give the edge to the M6. But he better be on his game.

Thanx for responses guys, the reason I'm asking is because right now I'm debating whether or not I should stall my car or do an m6 swap and do 4.10 gears....

My current tranny would need a tranny rebuild soon so I would need to figure what is cheaper, more fun as well

Manuals will always be more fun. As a well built auto will be faster off the line. I love shifting through gears in my m6 and as for ME I would only get a auto if I wanted to all out drag race.

They must not have known how to drive... All things equal the m6 will walk a a4 from a roll... Stall slippage much?

now this was years ago, but when I dropped the Vig 3600 in my car it DROPPED 4MPH in the 1/4... it also knocked .4 off the time but it KILLED the top side. I think a good converter like a SS4000 would have picked up some MPH and probably knocked a little more off the times. It went from 12.7's @ 108 to 12.3s @ 104 and an occassional 105

IF you want to do any type of roll racing you need a converter thats really "tight" you want a nitrous converter. They are setup to not be as sloppy so you won't "flash through" when you hit the button.
