Nah, I got a reckless ticket a couple of months ago (it was total BS, long story, not racing related) so I'm on probation for 6 months so I have to lay low. The car is getting the n2o removed and going turbos pretty quick in the meantime.

Haha, they are both their daily's and they thought it would be fun. The owner of the blue one has the 650rwhp S2000 (soon to be 750rwhp, he has a new turbo ), and the other one has a 1000RWHP TT Cobra. He was just set on going 200, crazies, I'm out on that!

The GT-R is no joke, but for $80k, Z06 FTW. I bet on motor I would have ran door to door with the GT-R (we both trap 118-119), and my car was a whole lot less, but his does look wicked!

Love it! Always great videos that keep me from completing work lol.
The E60s rip, quite a bit quicker than my body M5. With my limiter removed I can still hit 186 though :secret2:

I thought e39s stock could hit 190+ with the limiter removed and 195+ with full exhaust, intake and tune? That's wat I was told by my friend with a e39 m5

Highest I've seen personally is 186. Headers are worth 25-30rwhp with good software and no cats so I'm sure it's possible.
I have all the other goodies. Too cheap to spend $3600 on a set of poor quality headers for this car only to make 360/370 wheel. Or you could always spend $8000 on a set from Dinan :funny:

Anything with a Dinan branding on it is redic. My intake system costs $3600. The parts work, and are better than pretty much anything else on the market. But you pay for it out the ass.
I think the A1 Headers are Australian Ebay headers. They are only like $1k but not worth the $$$ IMO.

BAD ASS TA WS6
06-02-2010, 03:43 PM
Thats all fine, but not without spending $3500+. There aren't more than a handfull of shops in the country that can tune the car for setup like that. You can get away with running up to a 75wet shot with some ingenuity.
Cost my roommate $3500 for dyno/street tuning on an E46 M3 I built him from the ground up. Made 508 at the wheels, but it cost him about $30k to get there.
You can't make power on these cars without spending A LOT of money. The tuning/software costs you out the ass.

my friend made an intake for like 300bucks tops, looks better than the dinan imo. prolly the same gains as well.
his headers seem pretty good dont leak or anything. his car definitely pulls alot harder after the headers, tune, and some v12 clutch/light weight flywheel

Cold-air or manifold? Either way you cannot compare home-made mods to companies like Dinan. That is like comparing a C6 to a Gallardo, or replicas to Fikse/HRE, they may be comparable when in one area, but it's a whole other league.

It's all relative. To some people $4599 is like $450 to others.

You can make whatever intake you want. These cars heat soak, anything metal intensifies that.
I know what works and what doesn't. I build these cars professionally, and race/maintain, etc...
No point in arguing whats what, Nobodys oppinion is worth BOO to me on this stuff.
Again, sick video Trust.

u build m5s?
and to point about them heat soaking and any metal intesifies that then wats the different between dinan and a custom intake? both intake are out of the same material....just seems that u like to throw money away at a name:gruffy:

I build all sorts of BMWs and Minis. Street cars and race cars. I'm at Watkins Glen right now finishing up the Rolex/Contintal tire series race I crew for.
Dinans intakes are carbon fiber. Thus no heatsoak issues at all. The IAT sensor is also relocated out of the bank 1 MAF and into the lower radiator shroud to keep the DME from pulling timing.
Its like comparing Pacesetter headers to KOOKs or ARHs. Not even close.
AWDTBSS
06-05-2010, 04:02 PM
not really cuz he has relocated his iat sensors...and cf does heat soak as well. it is not 1200bucks better of an intake

I won't argue that the stuff isn't overpriced. I will argue that the proven numbers and know-how of the Dinan company is on par with Pratt/Miller in the GM world. Rediculous.
I've my hand on the "batch of 10 Dinan style intakes" made/sourced by an M5board member. They fit like crap, and the CF work looks like something I'd leave behind in a toilet. Not comparable to the Dinan setup. Never mind the sheetmetal rain deflection system thats included, along with filter outerwears, foglight/intake ducts, couplers, etc.
I do this stuff alllll day long. If you're on a budget, fine. Maybe you don't notice a difference in quality, but I've seen EVERY setup for these cars. None are comparable.

well look at my buddies his name is rhino or something on the m5 forums. his fits perfectly fine he is a perfectionist so it fits good and looks good, may not be cf but he was smart and wat u basically spent on intake he got headers and intake. i do find it funny u are getting so defensive about this very entertaining thx
