I have a bolt on formula with all susp upgrades except for a panhard bar. Is it worth going to a umi spohn or bmr non adjustable?
Thanks

all the panhard bar does is center the rearend...nothing else
if you change it, you might as well just get the adjustable...especially if you plan on getting a new rear end anytime in the future.

Definitely go for the adjustable. A little more expensive but worth it to serve the purpose. And regardless of anything upgrade from the stocker :thumb:

So can I get the adjustable and keep it the same length as the stock one?

So can I get the adjustable and keep it the same length as the stock one?

yes..most of the ones I have used come shipped already set to the stock length

usually only need to adjust it if you are moving it because your rearend is no longer centered.

Which one should I get, spohn, umi, bmr?

personally I prefer the UMI piece
their roto joints offer the benefits of rod ends without all the road noise

there's no point in getting an aftermarket panhard bar unless its adjustable in my opinion.

I'm just saying for an extra few bucks why not go with something that been proven to hold up and be of good quality. Ebay returns, more hassle if something ends up not going together correctly and then costing him more time and money. Kinda a no brainer IMO. Plus they are a sponsor and would more then likely give him a deal like they always have me. I'd rather spend my money with a ACTUAL suspension company then a Ebay seller. http://www.umiperformance.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7_138_106&products_id=309

ok so you are some anti-ebayer. But dont talk shit about a company you know nothing about. Besides, making non adj suspension parts isnt rocket science. I know several people with founders products. One time they sent the wrong panhard on accident. ONE message later had the correct one on the way and they never even asked for the old one to be returned. They are ok in my book

I don't think it's fair to say I have talked shit because never once did I say their product was garbage. All I'm saying is buying from Ebay seems like putting a quarter in one of those claw grabbing machines you see at the supermarkets and you hope and pray for something good to be dropped in the bottom to take home.

EDIT: Actually I did say their product was garbage :)

well you are the type to shit on CAT Power flexplates too, however, the chinamen have a legit SFI rating and you get them for about $70 shipped. So guess what?? I'm running one.

Original owner with not a single wrech...so obviously that is not the issue at hand. I bought it simply because I don't have a lot of money and I was looking to go the less expensive way out...didn't work out too well.

You sure seem to know a lot about me don't you? Don't put words in my mouth that have never been spoken. You get what you pay for with these cars. Everyone knows that. If these were such a big hit then why are they not a sponsor and more people running them. I'm not saying they are garbage, but if they are the next best thing to sliced bread then everyone would be sporting them.

You sure seem to know a lot about me don't you? Don't know shit except what I've read in this threadDon't put words in my mouth that have never been spoken. You get what you pay for with these cars. Then you think a $65 chinaman flexplate could no way compare to a $250 TCI right?Everyone knows that. If they dont, you are gonna ram it down their throat huh?If these were such a big hit then why are they not a sponsor and more people running them.Very simply bc they are new, so new that i likely ordered one of their very first panhard rods when they had zero feedback I'm not saying they are garbage, Yes you did, its above a few postbut if they are the next best thing to sliced bread then everyone would be sporting them.Bc they dont know about them for one

My thoughts in bold. I'm done with you and this thread. Good day sir :thumb:

Turk speaks the truth. The quality of this product sucks. Been there, bought that, never going back. I now run a BMR with great satisfaction.

My friend put one of those on his Z28 and after a couple hundred miles of driving he got under the car and found a nice size crack running down the passengers side of it. There's a reason it's only $40.

Spend the extra cash and get a nice adjustable one from UMI or BMR. I just bought a poly/rod ended one from BMR and it is a VERY nice peice, Well worth the money. :burn:

I've noticed in the past that cheap panhard bars tend to break at the ends. If you want to save money and risk breaking it, that's all you.

It was noted in this thread that you get an adjustable panhard bar because the rear end isn't centered. I just wanted to add that a rear end will need centering if your suspension plan calls for lowering springs. Changing the ride height of the car will push the rear end off center.

Edit: Oh and I completely agree with using UMI parts....by far the best and well worth your cash.

Hello
Like mentioned above UMI Performance does offer a wide variety of pan hard bars. They all feature a 1.20 wall tubing. And our adjustable bars feature chrome moly tub adapters so you never have to worry about the threads pulling. And one thing about UMI's products they are all tested and proven on our own personal vehicles. Our poly bushings are Energy Suspension and our rod ends are QA1's. So in that case yes you do get what you pay for.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Thanks
Brad :D

My Formula doesn't have a panhard bar anymore...

To answer your question, I wouldn't bother with one unless you are lowered and need to re-center the axle using an adjustable. If your panhard rusted in half or somehow was broken then maybe that would be a reason to replace it as well. If you want the best readily available way to locate the rear axle you would get a Watts link, but that is a lot more expensive compared to a Panhard bar.

That sounds like you recommend just removing the panhard bar and not replacing it with anything. I'm assuming you have the watts?

No..since I'm not lowered I guess I'll just keep the stock one which is in good shape.
