Default Radiator water going up

Hello
I have Caprice 2005 model. Its LS1. When I fill the radiator with water and start the car, it's water goes up rather than going down. I am thinking what could be the problem.
Help friends
Thanks

so whats the problem is the coolant spewing out of the engine?

with the engine running and water pump pumping the level in the radiator most likely will rise as coolant is being pumped through it...

Undo the hose from the steam crossover tube to bleed air out; also while warming up rev it every minute or so to get air out of the heater circuit, check that both heater hoses get equally hot.

if you have pressure when removing the cap on a cold engine or if you have the engine running and see bobbles in the radiator or if your coolant is coming out from the reservoir tank with out the the engine overheating most likely you have a bad head gasket or crack head!! put a gauge on the radiator!!

put the cap back on

if it's over flowing with the radiator cap on then it could be that the cap is not screwed on all the way or the cap needs to be replaced with a new one.

Nothing serious. Just was comparing with my old caprice '89 9c1. In my old 9c1 when the coolant is full and start the engine, its coolant moves downward rather than popping out.

Nice piece of info. thanks.

Actually friends I live in Saudi Arabia and temperature here is around 45C now a days. So my car is reducing water after every week. I m driving more than 40km everyday. I asked a mechanic here and he said its normal as the temperature is too much now a days.

Any cooling system problem is "serious".

This is serious, especially if you're using Dex-Cool.

When the coolant gets hot it expands, and the radiator cap expansion valve allows coolant to flow to the overflow bottle... and cold coolant contracts, and the radiator cap vacuum valve allows coolant to return back into the radiator from the overflow bottle... i.e. the radiator is kept full and free of air at all times... if you don't get this then you have a problem with your cooling system...

How old is your radiator cap...?

1Year old maybe I don't remember exactly. How much time cap lasts?
