Default Untuned Ms4

I am in the middle of installing my MS4 cam kit. I was just curious if it the car being untuned could be driven 20 or so miles to get tuned if the rpm's were kept low. Or am i asking for trouble?

That's a big cam, but you should be alright. I drove mine from Jacksonville to Cabot and didn't have any problems, but I had to stay on the gas the entire time. I kept the RPM's low and just kept it from stalling out. Who's tuning it?

Just dont run it hard and it should be alright.

Running it hard is what could hurt parts w/o a tune.

It can be done, but you have to stay on the gas like mentioned above. I hope you don't run into a bunch of red lights.

Your good. Just get a TUNE ASAP. There are guys on here that have ran some big cams w/o a tune for a few weeks. Not saying this is ok to do but for some it didn't hurt anything in the short run.

Or you can take it to your tuner and have him tune the computer a bit, just enough to get the car to them. This is what my brother did.

SHOULD be alright, but I wouldn't recommend running it untuned for long.

You will be fine. Drove mine a little bit before taking it to the tuner. I didn't go over 3000rpms.

like everyone is saying you'll need to stay on the gas to avoid the engine stalling out... there's also a bolt on the throttle body that adjusts the throttle's idle position. If you adjust this bolt enough you won't need to keep your foot on the gas pedal.

Before you adjust anything though... ls1 experts: should the OP take any caution with adjusting the throttle idle position bolt?

Personally I would find someone, buddy, co-worker, etc... with a truck and a trailer and give him a few bucks to tow your car to the tuner... Saves any worrying and possible damage to the motor.

I drove 130+ miles one way to get mine tuned with stock 241 heads and MS4. Luckily, it was early Saturday morning taking 59 from Houston to Victoria, so there was no traffic and I could just cruise on the highway.

The week after that tune, I changed to 799 heads and again drove the same 130+ miles to get it tuned. No problems at all.

Just took some coordination managing the gas, brake, and clutch pedal to get from my house to the highway.

I have driven a number of miles untuned on about 6 different cams m6 and A4. The car will act funny with the idle and usually you will be just fine as long as you dont feel the need to do WOT pulls or anything of the like.

After installing my MS3 I drove it to work for an entire week. I never passed 2K rpms, and changed my driving habit a bit. Then drove it from Miami to Rev Xtreme in Tampa to get it tuned.
