Default LQ4/6.0 budget build advice needed please..

Hi guys,
I need some help with my build if you don't mind, this is what I have so far. 05 lq4, 243 head, ls6 intake, Lunati springs and the cam specs are 236/242 .580/.590 112lsa.
This is my first build with the newer style motors so I need some help and advice. I'm going to drop my heads off tomorrow or Tuesday to have them milled and the springs installed. I'm using stock ls2 head gaskets so you know.

1) How much can I have milled off the 243's without having PVC issues?
2) What length push rods should I use with this cam? I was told 7.425. after the milling.
3) Do I really need to get rod bolts? The tuner is setting the rev limiter around 6500 for now.
4) What size injectors should I use?
5) Should I buy a high flow oil pump? The stock one has 40,000 miles on it.

I may have more questions but that's all I can think of for now. I would really appreciate any help with this build. Thank guys!

Mike

oil pump i think is cheap insurance just like the rod bolts, as for the heads id got with the l92 set up if you can swing the extra4 more power potential.

That's kind of what I was thinking about the pump and rod bolts. I just didn't know if they were needed for sure. I already have 243's and ls6 intake so that's what I'm running for now. Thanks!

7.425 pushrods will be to long if you mill the heads, you will need to get a checker and get the rite length..

your set up sounds VERY similar to mine. my cam is roughly the same size as yours, and i have ported 243s and i had mine milled only a small amount (.015 i think), and i used stock length pushrods. personally i didn't want to possibly cause problems later by having it milled too much.
i didn't get ARP rod bolts, i ran out of money on my build, but it would be a good idea if you are able to get them.
for my injectors i can't remember exactly what size i have, i think they were 36 lb, but you will need something more than stock for sure.
i ported and shimmed my oil pump and it holds very good oil pressure. i've done it twice now and it's not hard to do. if you don't want to buy a new one porting it would be an excellent idea.

i don't have any numbers from my engine, but if you have any questions send me a PM

I guess I should use a different head gasket so I don't have to take as much off the heads. 2000TransAmWS6 I'll send you a pm with a few questions. Thanks for the help! Which pushrod checker is the easiest to use?

I would like to get this thing up around 10.5:1 if I can. What gasket should I use and how much should I have milled off the heads. I'll have to look again but I think the pistons are .010 out of the hole. Sorry for the dumb questions guys!

It looks like if I use the ls2 head gasket and mill the heads .030 it will be around 10.6:1 and .021 will be around 10.49:1. I just don't know if I should take that much off them. Any opinions on that?

They are .008 out of the hole
Dish is 6.5cc
Stock MLS gasket compresses to .051
Gasket bore is 4.06
Every .005 off = 1cc
Stock LS6 heads are ~64.5cc

.0275 off will equal 59cc making the CR 10.56 with a stock gasket.

Supposedly .050 is the "safe" limit to hack off the heads. Though i would not go near there all at once, so that i still have room to freshen them up later in a rebuild.

Here is a good calculator.

Thank you! That's the kind of info I'm looking for..
What would be the easiest way to find out what pushrods to run. Would it be a good idea to pick up a set of ls7 lifters or can I get by with the stock lq4 lifters?
I found a set of Bosch 42lb injectors I think I'm going to give a try. Does anyone see a problem with these? https://ls1tech.com/forums/parts-cla...s6-shocks.html

remove no more than .030 off the heads. any more can cause heads to intake alignment issues.
