Default NEED HELP! Drivers Side cooling fan WONT turn on!!

I dont know where to go next. Done searches, and havent found anything to help.

My wife's 00 WS.6 is having a cooling issue. For some reason, the drivers side cooling fan will NOT come on at all! I pulled the relays, and fan assembly out of my 01, installed them in her car, and nothing changed! I dont know what to check next. I tried tracing the wires up to the relay box and didnt see anything wrong with them. The passenger side fan works just fine, on both low and high, so im lost?

ALL Suggestions are appreciated, its driving me crazy and its starting to get hot here, and she cant use her A/C without it wanting to over heat in town.

Did you check to see if power was getting to the wiring harness and plug for the fan???

Check to see if power is actually getting to the fuse box and then to the relays?

Could very well have a problem inside the PCM? Maybe pop both tops off the PCM and check for burnt pins. If you find any, tell us what the numbers are next to the pins.

I dont know if the ac fan is low/high but yes the driver engine cooling fan is low/high speed depending on the engine's temp.

OP, very basic deal here. You need to verify if A. The car is commanding the fan to come on, B. The relay is functioning and C. the fan motor is functioning. You would be probing where the number 85 terminal of the relay plugs in to look for 12+, 86 should be a ground. This will verify A. since you say you already replaced the relay and fans.

Lightbulb

If relay one only comes on, drivers side and passenger side will be low speed (both motors in series). If ONLY relay two and three come on the passenger fan will be high speed. If relay one, two and three come on both fan motors will be high speed.

I would suspect a winding or connection in the drivers side fan motor. Did you say you replaced the drivers side fan with yours out of your car? Was that one working in your car for sure on both speeds? Its using the wiring through the fan motor for the continuity for the passenger side motor to run in low speed so it has continuity on the low speed side of the motor (are there starting/running capacitors in these fan motors??).

Bear with me, this is the first time chasing electrical gremlins like this, but heres what i found so far:

Car running, AC on: Power is not making it to the drivers fan motor/plug.

Terminals B3 and C3 (Relay 1, Prong 86 and 87 respectively) have a constant 12+ at the fuse box

PCM:
Removed both plugs, didnt see any damaged/burnt or corroded pins

With the car OFF:
Terminal 33 shows 12+

Terminal 42 is only showing 1.6V. Should be showing 12+ just like Terminal 33 correct?

With the car ON:

Terminal 33 shows good for ground

Terminal 42 does not show ground.

Also it is throwing the code P0480

Replace relay 1. You should have 12v at 42 with car off.

UPDATE (been out of town for the last 5 weeks):

With the help of another member (SchuttsR1) who was having the same issue, He got me pointed in the right direction.

I pulled all 3 relays to simplify things, and tested the dark green wire (pin 42 to relay) for resistance..

The result??? NOTHING AT ALL! I checked my meter by touching the probes together, and got 0.00.. Checked the wire, and nothing happened.

Just ran a wire from the PCM to the relay, and as SOON as i touched the wire to the relay, it clicked and on came the fan!!

Did you just bypass everything and run a new wire from the PCM pin where the dark green wire was straight to the relay? I'm running into the same problem as you with my 2000 T/A and it's driving me nuts!

Sure did! i left the connections at both the relay, and the PCM, soldered in a new wire, and ran it in a new (well hidden) loom from the PCM to the relay box. Works great now!
