Dyno Guesses & Bench Racing Forum - Turbo SR20 240 Vs exhaust only LS1? Who would win?

This dude here has a turbo 240 SX SR20 with 15lbs of boost. Hes all cocky and thinks he has the fastest car ever(Always talking shit about my car and my friends H/C/I SS)...He wants to run but only for $$. He didnt want to run me for fun so i might be setting up the race this weekend. What do you guys think the outcome of the race will be? My car is a stock
LS1 with Lid,LT's,ORY and catback and a hypercrap tune...im guessing im in the 325 ish to 330 RWHP range and the car is an auto with 3.23's, no performance stall and 16" snowflakes with regular 225/55r16 goodyears.

I have good confidence in my car i figure he is probly going to spin of the line alot and my car grabs ok if i feather the throttle so of the take off i should take him, the only roll i will give him is a 10 mph because anything higher sucks. I figure i will end the 1/4 before he can catch me and his start will be slow because of turbo lag.

If i race him i plan on makin a thread on the kill, story section since i do owe them one because of the B16 honda that never showed up to race...i guess he didnt want me to "Fill up" his car with gas like he said i was going to.

Boosted sr's are no joke... If you had a stall and tires you would romp him, as to this race I'm not too sure... He might have the edge on you...

Yea dont get me wrong it looks quick but also its not a professionally built car it looks like it was all slapped together quickly...ill put it this way, he ran a 2006 Mustang GT that has exhaust and a tuner(not sure which one) and he barly beat the mustang by a fender, i raced that same mustang bone stock with no exhaust or anything and i stomped on the mustang by about 3-4 cars, now with the few mods ive done i destroyed the msuatng even worse...the thing is he was at 7 or 8 psi when he ran that mustang, now he is at 15 i believe.

I dont see the bench racing section....Where can i find it?

there is no such thing as an SR20 that runs correctly. Even with a good turbo and a good tune (hypothetically) you'd be lucky to get 300hp out of one, which is impressive for 2 liters, but hardly LS1 territory.

I'm not sure about the stock short block but I know that 240sxs are very light!

You would bend him over. My buddy used to have a 92 240 with a SR20, full bolt ons and tuned running 15psi.

I used to crack his ass with my catback/intake/stalled Z28 NO PROBLEM.

that goes for KA-T's not SR's..alot of people here have ~350rwhp sr20 240s..either in a hatch, coupe, or s14

and as for being lucky to get 300hp out of one..full bolt ons, t28 (silvia s15 sr20 turbo) injecters, tune. can get about 350 out of them..do cams, rebuild the head, intake mani, and T4 turbo and your in the high 400hp area..go forged internals, fully built head and something like a gt35r turbo and your well into the 500hp..and if you can save the vvti head they can rev to almost 10k rpm

My buddy had a SR20 with a stock turbo and ran a hidden 75 shot, it also ran 275 M/T's. That lil fucker was QUICK, easily ran down a few H/C LS1's. Not sayin the LS1's were fast but he managed to get the win in a heads up race.

I'd be careful for sure, maybe toss on a 100 shot for insurance. :devil:

I got money on the SR20.

I've got 2 friends with SR20s. both with intake/exhaust/tune and aftermarket turbos running around 10-15 pounds. I've beat both of them on 40 pulls and one of them at the local 1/8th track. But it was really close.

Damn this outta be good then....should of bought that nitrous kit lol....im gonna get some video and post it up if we do run

One of the reasons im feeling confident is because i ran a 92-93 hatchback civic LS VTEC garret turbo fully built running 18 PSI pushing 378 WHP...I had him by a car until a little short of the quarter i was at 110 and he passed me like i was standing still lol i dont see this 240 being that fast

stock turbo, prob only makes 260 and thats turned up with a aggressive tune.. My friend has a built motor with a gt35r turbo set up and it only makes 460rwhp on pump. I know he is getting a new set up for e85 and a bigger turbo, but without alot of mods, those cars are turds.

you will beat it those 240s arent that fast well the ones i have ran but then again im not stock.......theres a local here with an rb25 in his 240 but wont run me for some $$ what a lil girl he sounds just like the guy your going to race, there only fast at running there mouth thats all.... dont let 15psi scare you a stock sr's stock turbo is only good for 10 pounds max!!! even anything over 10 is pushing it and pretty much blowing hot air and loose power instead of gaining....

Might run him tomorrow night...will record the race if i do...i really think i am going to beat him, then drive to the gas station and fill up my car, go home and sleep good. My brother has a T28 SR S13 hatch and when he was running maybe 8-10lbs at the time, he beat a stock m6 ws6 from a roll, not by much if i remember correctly..

But if hes still running the T25 i would give you the edge and if his car is anything like my brothers it'll spin halfway through 2nd gear off a dig

Same plugs, programmer, free mods, lid etc...your gears are a little different im rockin the stock 3.23's which i like right now but my car is nasty off the line for a stock motor i just hope i dont blow out a front tire they are bald as hell my fear is one blowing out and bustin up my fender, that and blowin a tire out at 110 could not be fun

This is the 01 SS im talkin about we ran em at the track last summer...i think i did ok for a bone stock with a k&n filter and 80 series flowmaster...his has MS3 cam, patriot heads, kn FIPK, shorty headers and magnaflow catback and now also a 12 bolt moser with 3.73's and rebuilt M6...with my mods now i keep up even better we did a 10 mph roll last time and he didnt catch me till the 1/4 and he only stayed about 1 car lengh in front maybe 1 and a half...his car is running too rich though so idk im pretty sure he should be smokin me worse than that lol. A kid I knew had one back home in Memphis. I remember when he was working the bugs out the car was running low 13s and high 12s. I saw him a couple months later and he was clicking off mid 12s without much trouble. This car was a beat up, cobbled together clunker I wouldn't have taken for any better than 14s hadn't I watched it run.

I ran a beat looking 240 that had KA24 with some kind of turbo, I pulled 1/2 car up to 140, I was making 425rwhp. Those things can be quick when set up right.

Well i finally got my race from this dude! After he came in talkin crap and trying to start drama, we finally went and ran. We did 4 races, 3 digs and 1 roll. All 3 digs i took him really bad, i didnt even finish the 1/4 and i let off because he was waay back there and i thought he missed a gear or something. I smoked him really bad lol. We did a roll and i got him by a good 4 cars. He didnt even go back to the hang out he just left home after that. Its funny because he called my friend that i was supposed to run after him, an H22 sprayed honda hatch, and told him not to race me because my car was fukin fast lol. This race happened on saturday night, last night on sunday he came over to me and apologized for talkin crap and admitted that my car was fast, and said that his shifter broke when he was racing me. Im glad i got this race of my chest i was gettin tired of this dude running his mouth and finally shut him up! :D

Good work man, glad it turned out ok for you. i had a similar instance happen for a pretty decent amount of coin and the dude finally shut up. He didn't have a car so he threw his buddies 03 125 shot a few bolt ons and tuned mach 1 at me. They had full suspenson and a tubular kmember on slicks and skinnies. All I had was what is in my sig with 1 in rims running 255/50/16 mt et street radials. Beat them bad, cool guys about it.

Yea i wish i could of taken his $$ back when he was being hard and saying he would only race for money, but o well at least i shut em up, i love when ppl call you out and you surprise them, my car is beast out of the hole for what its got, Cam, stall nitrous and a good tune are going in this coming spring i cant wait for what she'll do then!

Thats strange... My buddies runs solid 12.5's@113, and it is stock with 12psi... He has a decent tire on his, but he whopped on my LS1 killer fiero that was running high 12s trapping 107 at the time.

some just arent setup right..

i was gonna put a SR in my 240sx but decited to put a RB20 in it being only $500 more than a SR swap..
