Default 30th Anniversary SS stripe kit I might buy

Hey guys, Ive got someone who would like to sell their original hugger orange stripes for my Anniversary SS. He is asking $450.00 for the set. Everything is included and I have pics of every stripe and every part number. Will they still attach well after all these years? Is this a good deal?

I would call a company like Pheonix Graphics and ask them what they've experienced with the longevity of GM graphics. They'd be the best source for this information.

Well I could call them but I figure they would try to sell me their set. The stripes on my car are holding up ok as far as staying attached to the surface. I have read that the Phoenix Graphics arent an exact hugger orange and they are decent but the OE stripes are thicker and made of better vinyl. All input is extremely appreciated though.

I would get them. I have a 10th firehawk and can't get one of the stripes. It is good insurance.

Normal shelf life is 5-6 years if they are stored at room temp if they are in a garage you can almost bet the glue will be worthless. A friend purchased a set of 1993 Camaro Pace Car OEM decal's they were on the shelf for just over 5 years stored in a garage. Come to find out the decals were worthless all the glue dried up, the tape on the top was sticking to the decals.

Hey guys thanks for all the feedback. Im hearing a lot of different opinions regarding if these stripes will still be good or not. I think I might just put the $450 towards painted stripes. My hood needs new clear coat anyway. Thanks to all for the input.

I do graphics and have alot of NOS GM stuff(but not those)
I can duplicate most of them.
GM used 3M almost exclusively.
PM me if you want to chat about this.

I just took ruboffs of the 01 SS I have.

Do not paint the stripes on, it will ruin any collectability of your car.

Well i dont want to ruin my collectability. My car is no spring chicken but it has just under 82,000 miles. Now I gotta rethink my painted stripes idea. When it comes down to it this is one of the biggest dilemmas for this car. Are there any other 30th AE SS guys on here with some feedback? I guess the clear-coat on the stripes might be the way to go. so we are back to the question is $450 worth it for an impossible to find set.

Again I can make a pattern but its better to use new ones.
You can do this.....
Buy them,I can make a pattern, resell them, make new ones with fresh material. The new material can be sealed to help them last longer, but 3M stuff is pretty rugged,Ive got the factory stripes on my 67 Tempest Sprint, not perfect but neither is the car.

Thanks for the offer TOPLESSHO but Im not going to buy the stripe kit from the guy. I might check with bfranker in Tampa because he does make a hugger orange stripe kit that looks to be the same specs of the original. I know he uses 3m vinyl as well.
