T56 is my choice.. but if your an Auto type of drive.. then convert to it.. the choice is really what you want.

But do your research to see what your getting into..difference in the harness, ECM tune, x-members, Flex/TC vs Flywheel/clutch, Pedals, Throwout Bearing, etc..

also consider the T56 might or will require Trans Tunnel modification.

A 4l60e with the right parts can hold up very well.

The autos are way cheaper. You could probably sell your T56 setup for $1500-ish. IMO though I would stick with the t56. Unless your doing a lot of drag racing, manuals are just more fun.

TH400 here, but would have gone for a 4L65 had my wallet been thicker during my build up. But the 400 is a ripping trans for around town and 1/4 mile runs, but you can;t beat the overdrives for highway cruising.

You have got to make some decisions or share them with us. How much power are you after. How much street driving? What are your goals for the car...

You will definitely have some tunnel modifications to do with a T56. You might be able to get away with using a BFH, but I ended up cutting and re-welding my floorboard to make it fit. Though, I also have the engine sitting pretty far back so it probably took more work. Most auto's will fit with no problems, maybe a little hammer work.
