Default How much vibe do you have after poly mounts?

I put in a Prothane trans mount, and a Energy Suspension TA mount, along with some UMI LCA relocation brackets on a few weeks ago. And on the highway at about 80 my vibes are way worse than it ever was. It's actually worse when I let off the gas. I did grind a small layer off the top of the TA mount to get the clamshell to close better, but it's still a very tight fit. I was wondering if anyone else has a similar experience after putting in poly mounts? Or has suggestions if these vibes are coming from somewhere else? Thanks

Yeah my polly mount did the same thing but i have herd that taking the metal plate off and grinding the side of it will cut down the vibration. Mine was annoying at first but i kind of got use to it and it beats ripping tranny mounts every time i go to the track.

You must have an ES poly mount because they have the metal plate unlike the Prothane. But I do believe the ES is a little softer it seems.

I know my car is in need of an alignment, but this came up until after these mount installs. This would probably be better in the suspension forums.

It did have the initial vibration at low speeds after the install, but those went away, and softened up. But now the vibe at 80 is pretty bad. It's odd because it's worse when I let off the gas.

It makes it more solid, it definitely feels better when racing, but during casual cruising, you feel where it's solid even moreso!

Its not crap, its common when you go to poly mounts. I have ES poly trans mount and yes, i get lots of vibs. I took off the plate as well, and it seemed to calm it down a bit.

Take the Prothane trans mount off and get a Energy Suspension mount, and grind down/remove the two preload bumps, then install it w/preload plate.

Problem solved!

I run my car this way with the addition of Prothane engine mounts and have very little additional vibration.

I'm mainly asking about rear end suspension work. But would prothane motor mounts help me since I've got rubber motor mounts and poly trans mount?

from what i read on here a poly tranny mount dont work to good with the stock mm's.

i got a 1le tranny mount from thunder racing and it has held up for a few years but i think its starting to get weak again.

Poly motor mounts, poly trans mount --- no vibes

When I was researching mounts I read a lot of info that said it is bad to run poly trans mount with stock motor mounts. Evidently it can damage the tranny if the motor mounts allow to much play.

I'd love a link for that $7.00 trans mount. I'm pretty sure ES mounts are NOT the way to go. There's almost 10mm difference in height. That vibration you feel... then goes away... could be your extension housing bushings and your pinion bushings/bearings going out. Anybody tried shimming their crossmember to fix it?

Yeah you're not supposed to have a tranny mount that is more solid than your engine mounts.

I replaced my broken in half rubber one today with the ES one that I ground the bumps and didn't use the plate. Car feels way solid and actually cut about half the vibration in my car. The other half is probably because my bent driver rear rim. The only bushings/mount in my car that aren't poly are my engine mounts.

Oh and about your car vibrating that much, check ur engine mounts. Powerbrake the car to like 1500rpms and if you notice the engine lift too much your engine mounts are going out
