Default How much power and rpm on stock rods

Thinking of putting a good set of heads and cam in my SS, its a 2000 model but I have an 02 model LS1 to go in it. How much horsepower and rpm can the stock rods in 02 motor hold up to? Could I put any nitrous to them?

I have heard stock internals are good until about 600 and then things start to possibly go downhill. And yes of course you can throw some nitrous on it!!

theres quite a few high hp cars around here have had no problems
i think the rod bolts is more of a concern and i think its like 66-6800rpms before its an issue
i know a guy that sprayed a 200 shot on his car for years and he traded it at over 100k with still no issues
also couple guys with h/c/i cars and 125/150 shot....both are well into the 500s with no problems

So can I just replace rod bolts or do I have to get better rods in order to fit in better rod bolts. Also, what size cam can I fit in without worrying about piston to valve clearence issues?

keep it below the 240's and you won't have to even think about PTV issues

depends on the heads and chambers because on stock ls6 64cc chamber heads an ms4 can fit with no ptv issues and if i am right its a 237/242. now u should check ptv regardless but it has been done plenty of times.

134k mile untouched longblock, tsp 231/237 cam, anything under a 200 shot is small imo. I don't know how much power I'm making. Full weight runs 10.50's @ 127
