Cadillac CTS-V - Speed of your V
ColeGraham

Stealing this from another thread. And this is way to make the FWD V8 LS4s feel bad. :ripped:
What is the highest speed you have taken your V too? And if you want to throw in strip numbers out there, that's even better.
I will reply with my stuff when I get home and drive my V to California. And when I am out there, I am planning on taking the V to a strip with my brother in law and his 1968 Firebird with a 455 monster under the hood.

130MPH the day I bought it.

I would guess 115mph or 120mph...was not looking at the speedo at the current moment but when I was braking I glanced down as it was passing 110mph. Just a quick higway burst on the way to work.

Sweeeet, 177mph with a CEL. How long a stretch of road were you on, as I know from experience you will about 3/4 mile starting from 55mph roll.
raven154
06-10-2010, 10:22 AM
The cell is just cats and everyonce in a while it gives me random missfire codes but the car runs great and never stumbles or anything so I'm not sure what that's about. I need to tune the car for sure though. It's got a lot more left in her. That little strech of road is probably around a mile but I hit 177 before I got to the end. I've never really measured it out.

Mid 140s on a long stretch between Illinois and St. Louis. Got a little light on its toes around 110 but then hunkered back down and was very predictable the rest of the way up.

About 130-140. Car felt solid and wanted to keep pulling, I was impressed. I agree with Dr. Nick: about 80-110 the car feels a little light/twitchy, but seems to grab some aerodynamic downforce over 110.

158 on a stretch of I-20 in west Texas when I was moving from Virginia to El Paso. I had 680 lbs. of crap in the car too! It had more in it, and I had plenty of road, but I was starting to imagine the scenario if I happened to pass a cop so I chickened out and let out of it.

Blue06STI, I dont post a whole lot on there....pretty much use it for buying/selling parts, or researching something.
That's why I couldn't go faster is cause the of 6sp, that was pushing 7200 RPM's at that speed. The motor was setup to spin to 8500, but at that speed, thats a lot of stress to put that motor under, so I stopped there......
whats done to the 02 rex? Those are some impressive numbers, I assume he has a dog box in it? lol, when my last motor blew, I was seriously considering, swapping an H6 in there, and putting a GT42R on there...It woulda been fun :)

Ill tell you if you want to stop better than stock, throw some SS braided lines and flush all the fluid with some new Dot 4 and install some performance friction pads. I can't believe how this thing stops now. It's a nice step above stock.

It was an import tuner cover car in 08. Built/sleeved EJ251 (before the STi was on our shores he had a 2.7L motor built). He was the original beta tester for AEM. It has a custom 42R and a whole bunch of other mods (custom MSD coils, custom intake manifold, custom fuel system w/ 4 800 primarys and 4 1600 secondaries. I could go on for pages about this car). We put a lot of work into it. He drives it on the street so I gotta keep some of the stuff on the DL :pimp:

It def doesn't float like any other car I've been in.....I took my sis up to about 140 and she was amazed that the faster we got the more it tucked down. Be careful and there's not a lot of reaction time @ that speed....I know it's pretty stupid but it's a calculated risk I guess I'm dumb enough to take....FUN THO

I do have an oil pressure issue but since that video I changed the oil pressure sender and the connector and it did come up some. I started running a little heavier oil but I will most likely have to pull the bottom end apart and check the bearings if it gets any lower. You only need 7psi per ever 1k rpms.
raven154
06-18-2010, 06:46 AM
Just found this posted in another forum bit can't back it up with tech data.
Minimum oil pressure for hot LS1
6psi @ 1000 rpm
18psi @ 2000 rpm
24psi @ 4000 rpm
raven154
06-18-2010, 06:49 AM
Still, I Wish my oil pressure were higher. Seems after I installed a cam on my last motor the oil pressure went down and then on this motor, after it got broke in the pressure dropped.

What kind of oil pump? I have a melling high volume and im getting like 62 psi at over 6k. Also, is the maggie's oiling system self contained or does it cycle through the engines oil?
ColeGraham

i have heard a lot of things about the oil pump in the V...mosty negative, especailly with the V1.1 (which is what i refer to the 04-05 Vs). the 06-07, have similar issues, and i read that a lot of people with upgrade the oil pump.

opened her up a little bit on the Dallas North Tollway...
a Lexus ES350 (200 something HP V6) was riding my bumper getting on the highway, and i did a quick drop from 6 to 4 and got about 3/4 throttle when he attempted to pass me. hit 123, and decided to let off when i noticed so heavy traffic when Dallas North cross over 121.
maybe he thought i was a normal CTS and he would be able to floor in by me...that did not happen. he tired though and failed terribly at keeping up, haha.
