Well, realignment has begun. Colorado has accepted an invite to the Pac 10 and now being reported that Ok State has also. It appears we are headed for four major super conferences. Nebraska will likely announce its departure for the Big 10 tomorrow. As an OU student/fan, Ive enjoyed the Big 12 for obvious reasons (OU has won it 6 times between 2000 and 2009). I am excited about the new super conferences and new match ups. It will be very interesting to see what happens to schools like: KU, KSU, Mizzou, ISU, and Baylor. These will likely be the left overs after the realignment.

I have to admit I think it's somewhat amusing that Colorado just got sanctioned for having "unacceptable" academic performance and were 3-9 last year (football) and the Pac-10 was still interested in them. Funnier still was the statement made today by Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott: "The University of Colorado is a great fit for the conference both academically and athletically."

Where does OU and TX figure to go?

I would prefer them TX a&m and Virginia Tech to join the SEC. That would be sick, and it would be an unbelievable TV market.

Trust me, there are more than a few of us that were pushing hard for Texas (and a few others) to accept the SEC invitation. Unfortunately, our "academic" side wasn't about to let that pass. :bang:

I was actually hoping to see the Big Ten go after some of the bigger schools, but they don't seem to like the idea of "outsiders" coming in and running things. They are still holding out for Notre Dame...

OU, Texas, etc will join the Pac 16. SEC will raid the ACC for some teams. Big 10 will continue to offer Notre Dame and if they don't get them they will drag some BE teams in. KU, Mizzou, ISU, KSU, and Baylor are all on their own. Maybe they will form their own new conference pulling in a few others.

I would love to see Kansas, KSU, and ISU in the Big Ten. Won't happen though, for the reason I mentioned earlier.

Nebraska is a "big" school...
I know this, but they aren't the power they once were. They will be solid in Football, but not much else for the other sports, so the "original" Big Ten teams will still win those conference titles.
Can't say the same for the likes of Texas, who is awesome at football, baseball, track & field, basketball, etc.

Someone will take KU for their basketball prowess alone. My guess would be the Big East, but we'll see.

Husker football will be a force this season.
They'll only be stonger this season and should have been Big 12 champs last year. :engarde:
And, not a fun card to play in a car forum, but our Volleyball team kicks ass.

You lost Suh, who gave the rest of your defense abilities to make plays and unless that offense improves then I don't see them as a real player for the national championship. IMO a great defense is centered around having dominant DT's. They free up the ends and LB's to roam and have single blocking. That creates a domino effect for the secondary to be able to play more aggressively. As an OU guy, I realize this with what we have had (Tommie Harris, Gerald McCoy).

Jared Crick will supposedly exceed Suh's capabilities. Not sure if I believe that, but he is a good player and he'll for sure ease the loss of Suh.

Crick is a good player, but exceeding Suh is just not likely. It appears you won't need an explosive offense to compete in your new conference though.

The PAC-10 is going to finally have a legitimate conference. Texas and OU will expose USC and Cali in the regular season.
Big 10 gets left behind in this realignment but will still have the biggest money market.

Realignment is not about the money, it's about the money.
Ticket prices keep going up every year. Why not have a playoff for the national title, instead of meaningless bowl games? Instead of having empty seats, (and low TV ratings) at the Prune Bowl, you'd have much more interest in a true championship format.
The NCAA is messed up. Busting up the Big 12 is a shame.
Just my 2 cents.
