Finally got to make a pass
2nd time our track has been open this year and hey my car didn't have to take a trailer ride home this time! (damn fuel pump line) Anyways so I waited for 4 hours to only make 2 passes gay. First time I've ever launched with the slicks or 9" so I was a little nervous. 1st pass out my clutch stuck to the floor right after the start, damn more problems. 3 hours later I finally was back up to make a pass. I was preying to the LS1 gods for my clutch to not stick to the floor (POS LS7 clutch!) while I was puming it a good 100+ times.
After reviewing my pass it looks like I did a real shitty burnout. I swere it felt like I was roasting those tires forever (newbie). Please please please make 3 clean shifts. Pull up to the light and dump her at 5000 rpm WOT, dear god never felt it launch like that before! Made 3 granny shifts and it never went to the floor, short shifted 3rd but oh well. Wish I could have made more passes than 1 clean pass but I'm sure I will have all summer.
Raceweight: 3700 + lbs
Elevation: 2200' MAP reading @ WOT 94-95 kpa
DA: 2500-2800
60': 1.711
330: 5.018
1/8: 7.753
MPH: 90.41
1000: 10.106
1/4: 12.066 So close to 11's
MPH: 115.78
Buddy with his L92 intake / head 408 th400 3500 stall, 12 bolt 4.10 gears also ran a new person best of 11.73 @ 115 mph with a 1.6 60'. Our track seems so slow I don't get it, ever since they redid the timing system last year everything is .3-.4 slower and 3-4 mph less.
Not a bad 60' for a lowered SLP uplevel suspension car right? I still am on stock LCA's for now. All I did was unbolt one link on the front sway bar. Also have an airbag in the passenger side @ 5psi (is this too low?)
Crappy video I know, sorry.

Edit: Wonder how much power my 21 lb driveline and 9" with 140 wt syrup in it robbed over the 10 bolt? Guess I should throw it back on the dyno.

30 psi!? I would have never guessed haha. Does it really sound accurate to you? When we got our buddies car together with the 408 we were hoping it would run low 11's high 10's. Also my buddies 04 m6 bolton ported head / trex cam d1sc procharged gto on 9psi is only running 12.0 @ 115 mph. I don't see how the hell all of our cars are running 115. I know the gto last year ran 100x better on nitrous, but that kind of disregards the air quality right? Creates it's own atmosphere or something? Our air always has so much moisture in it, but for calculating DA it doesn't seem to change much with humidity.
Oh well time for another clutch! I did find this though for Spokane, WA NHRA altitude corrections http://www.nhra.com/competition/altitude.aspx

The previous manager vandalized the track when the county terminated his contract last year. I guess he ruined the timing system when he left and they have been dealing with the mess every since. Another local guy has an 06 M5 GT mustang with boltons and a 100 shot has been running 12.6s @ 108 mph with a 1.7 60' foot. I'm pretty sure he ran 108 mph last year on motor. I also just found out today my wideband calibration **** somehow moved (ngk afx) and I what I thought was 12.8-13 AFR was actually 11.8-12 afr. I went through the traps @ 6200 rpm with a 4.11 gear and a 26" tall bias ply. Does a bias ply grow grow .5-.75" over 110 mph? If so 6200 with a 26.5" tire = 119 mph.

Those first few launches on a good bias tire is something else huh?
94-95kpa,,, looks like you have a restriction in the intake somewhere. Still using the stock LS1 intake manifold?
Yeah, 2300 feet of elevation will def affect your trap speeds. You should make a road trip over here and run at 200 feet elevation.

Nope running a 4" I'd bellow from the lid to the 85mm throttle body with a fast 85. Our barometric pressure is 94 so because of elevation. The ls6 intaked used to drop to 89-90 kpa. Yup that first pass felt unreal to me. Felt like I just rocketed out of the hole lol. When I get it all dialed in I'd like to go run at Bremerton raceway I hear its a much nicer track. I'm going to try and get more than 2 passes in this friday but there was over 300 cars and bikes so it was real slow. Everyone likes friday night street races its only $15 to run. But no fun to sit 5 hours and make 2 passes.

It was basically my first pass. It doesn't seem that off compared to other ls1 cars in the area. Especially since the L92 408 is running 11.7 @ 115 mph. Our timing system was just recalibrated and this is an nhra track. I'm sure tuning it to the right afr, having a clutch that doesn't go straight to the floor and actually practicing launches will get me into the 11s. Compared to everyone on the net its slow but comparing to our track I will be the first na 346 ls1 in the 11s. Everyone else has had to spray. My buddies gto last year with the trex cam made 410 rwhp and ran 12.5 @ 111 mph but ran a 10.9 @ 128 on a 175 shot.

Well I got to make a few more passes and the LS7 clutch only sticks to the floor after my run.
3090 Density Altitude (2200' elevation)
3700 + raceweight
Going through dual dual exhaust
6800 RPM Clutch Drop
60': 1.646
330: 4.899
1/8: 7.580
MPH: 92.37
1/4: 11.820 *** Finally!! ***
MPH: 116.79
Time to open cutout and add a little fuel
60': 1.767
330: 4.969
1/8: 7.616
MPH: 93.54
1/4: 11.797

Track was going away at the end of the night. I think it has 11.6x in it with the cutout open and cutting a 1.6 60'. I couldn't believe it bogged the motor down to 4000 rpm on my 6800 rpm drop! These M&H tires hook like a **** for being a slp lowered suspension car.

Thanks a lot Dave! I would love to run at your track or anywhere else really! I may take a trip over to Seattle once I get everything dialed in. Problem with Seattle is it's a 4.5 hour trip one way and that damn place rains every other day, but they are right at sea level. Yank the front sway bar, get some skinnies up front, maybe a light race battery, pull the passenger / back seats and I think that will drop an easy 100 + lbs. Get some adjustable shocks and lower control arms and maybe I can cut some 1.5 60'. Should be fun I could only hope with a little less weight, suspension and a nice crisp sea level track maybe some low to mid 11's ? The guy who specced my cam also said there is another 20 rwhp if I decide I want a bigger cam, but I don't know I love the way this thing drives.

Well our track was closed down for a month, it was rented out for road course events. Went back out tonight and only got 3 passes in I did set a new personal best with no changes to the car, except I banged the fug out of them gears!!
Density altitude was much higher this time (hot!) @ 3981'
60': 1.725 Spun all the way through 1st haha
330: 4.923
1/8: 7.588
MPH: 92.4
1/4: 11.794
MPH: 117.95
Dragtimes corrections if you believe in that.
Stock and Mildly Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
11.222 @ 124.029 MPH
Extensively Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
11.372 @ 122.333 MPH
Damn I need a sea level winter track with mineshaft air like you guys run in with -1000' + DA!

That is one hell of a combo you're running. Those redline launches must feel violent. I'd love to give that a try but the sorry gm 10 bolt owns me . I think the dragtimes calculator is pretty accurate but under what category does a heads/cam motor fall? I figured it would be considered extensively modified.

The launches feel pretty good but I can tell that the suspension is not helping the car move forward at all. It just hits hard and bounces while not really moving forward. I need some real suspension. I figured extensively modified would be like a pro stock / nascar / formula 1 type engines? Either way, maybe next time out I will try some CE rear shocks. My car runs about .1-.2 faster if I run 15-16 lbs of air and spin through 1st versus running 14 lbs and hooking than bogging.

I would really like to get the car dialed in to run quicker but I'm not sure it's worth it at our track. They shut the track down at the end of September and it's still 90 degrees out. It doesn't open back up until after all the snow is long gone and that is usually around April-May. I doubt our track would ever see much lesss than 2000' DA since we are at 2300' elevation.
It would be really awesome if I could run at a -1000' DA track with setup suspension and a set of skinnies. I really think this mild setup would be turning some heads than, unfortunately those type of conditions do not exsist around here. I really think it would go 10.9-11.1 @ 124 + mph with a 3600lb raceweight. I'm going to throw my Chrs1313 ram air setup I built for it last year back on and see if that helps mph. Thanks for the comments guys, I will keep this updated!
