RMVB shifter for 4L80????!!
I'm having my 80 built with a rmvb...problem is I can't find a shifter! Is the shifter for a 80 the same as a 700r4? That's the only 4 speed gm shifter i can find in a reverse pattern. If I can't find a shifter...i'll have to hurry up and let my trans guy know to make it a forward pattern. Thanks for the help!

The reverse manual or forward only matters if it is detent shifter and not a ratchet type.
The internal linkage (detent spacing) stays the same on either type of VB.
My experience with the 4L80E vs. 700-R4/200-4R compatible shifters is that the low gear (4th with a RMVB) position is further away, so you usually need to alter the angle of the shifter lever on the side of the trans. It goes too far back and when you try to come out of low it will bind because you are pushing in almost a straight line.
