Default Worth getting a C6Z over my C5Z

I have had my C5Z for almost 2 years now and I am in love with the C6Z's. All my friends tell me to keep mine because its not worth the additional 20k for the c6z's. What do you guys think? Should I keep mine or sell it and get a C6Z? My payment would double so I would be able to mod it all that much. Probably heads/cam bolt ons.

Only you can answer that question. Go drive one and decide for yourself, you cannot test drive a car over the internet...

Yes it is worth it if you can swing the $$$$$

I've driven a bunch, and if it wasn't for the fact I just bought a house and have a 1 year old son added to my burden I would've already upgraded from my C5z.

In the same spot my C5z hits 125ish, the C6z is screaming past 145.

Side by side comparison of C5z vs C6z acceleration. (stock)

It is all about what you want, my C5 isn't a Z its just a coupe but its paid for and I am just going to start modding it and enjoy not having a payment. With that being said I am a huge fan of the C6 Z but I don't want the payment.

If you're road racing maybe, otherwise just buy a blower and save the $$$.

I'd say if you can swing it, do it. The LS7 is a far better motor with lots more potential than the LS6. The C6Z is a superior car. I would never own a C6 Coupe or Vert over my C5Z, but if I could swing it, I'd have a C6Z in a heart beat. Better motor, better interior, better trans, better brakes, etc...

I'd do it.

You already own the C5Z but in your opening statement say that you are in love with the C6Z. You should drive one and if you still feel the same way, I'd say get it. If I didn't own a vette I'd buy the C6Z, but it would end up with the same mods that are in my sig. The only thing that would change is the cost to start, and I wouldn't have had to buy the seats and shifter.

i love mine. I went from an ls6 to an ls7 (granted the ls6 was in a cts-v) but man what a badass motor the ls7 is.

I would NOT buy a c6z for the engine.. No point.

You'll go way faster modifying your c5z.

Only reasons to upgrade are things that are harder to change. If you like the style interior/exterior of the c6z or the handling/feel better of the new c6s

Those are much harder and more expensive to change than just adding power

Meh... That's an opinion I'd counter. I personally think C5Zs look better.

My question still stands....LS3 an option? Cam/bolt on cars are making 475+ with an M6, thats ******* awesome. I am having a hard time deciding whether to pick up an 08+ or put a significant down payment on a 06/07 C6Z.

If you went with the LS3 coupe, they can be found for mid to low thirties in some cases. I say go for it either way!

Nah...This is not intelligent thinking. Another 1.3 liters of displacement, less weight, better brakes, warranty, newer styling, waaaay better interior.....blah blah...does depend on your goals but to say what you said above is a convoluted way of looking at it. BTW he never mentioned "going way faster" as a top priority.

yeah man ive owned them all....I have a head cammed m6 c6 ls3 and its fast as ****, my c6 z06 is cammed and makes about 40 more rwhp...Its hard to explain the difference in the two (and c5's) until you drive them...That ls7 would freakin blow the doors off my ls3....It is way faster and it does it with EASE...Line up an even modded ls3 with and ls7 and the ls3 gets fucked up bottom line...I have about 5k in mods in the c6z and over 10k in my c6 and imo used c6z's are very reasonable...The ls7 with heads cam and bolt-ons and you have a 580-600 rwhp monster with great suspension and lot of cubes to go with it.....I say c6z for the win and the price.....But thats just my opinion...

Actually a C5Z is lighter than a C6Z but it's not that big of a difference. I actually like how my C5Z looks and it will probably eventually have a 427 as well just not an LS7. If I start breaking parts or feel the need to upgrade to a truely bulletproof rear end then I would do the C6Z trans/diff swap. Of course by that time I'll basically have a C6Z drivetrain and the only difference will be looks, suspension, interior, wheel size, and brakes. I can definitely upgrade to a 427 plus C6Z trans and rear for less than the $20K price difference b/w selling my car and buying a C6Z (that includes selling my C5Z parts that I wouldn't keep). Nothing against the C6Z - it's an awesome car and I like the styling but not enough to justify selling mine.
