Default 2001 trans am dying and throwing all of these codes.

Ok, so my car is running rough. It will start to seemingly cut fuel and die. It has been my daily driver as the sti is in the shop, so ive had it looked at by a mechanic who failed to fix it. It's throwing p0174. Today was it's worst day and died as I pulled into my house. I bought an 02 sensor but don't even have the means to put it in. I cleaned my maf and put the stock bellow back on and cleaned the filter. Now it starts and dies soon after and throws out p1153 and p1133 I'm not too sure what to do. I really need to get this car running and hope it's going to be cheaper and easier to fix than the sti.

Could be as simple as bad 02 sensors? Multiple ones?

You have the code names correct, but the positions wrong on P1153.

Bank 2 is passenger's side.

Sensor 1 is upstream (front) O2 sensor.

the front O2's are the ones to worry about.

So the 02 sensors before the cat are the issue?

Replace your front o2 sensors. I had the same problem 2 years ago, my car kept dying so I replaced both o2's and everything was back to normal.

Yes. You need to replace both of those. The computer uses those sensors to set the correct A/F ratio when in closed-loop mode.

Strange to lose both sides at the same time........it happens....but man thats some serious odds.

Pop two new ones in and see what happens. If that doesn't help, you could have a PCM problem.

I too thought it was really weird to see both sides fail at the same time. I'm actually thinking you have a MAF problem that is confusing the o2's. I guess it is cheaper to put in some o2's rather than a new MAF though...

Well, remember the MAF is only operating at cold start....then whenever you go WOT. The 02 sensors take care of everything alone when not at WOT and after the temp (I think) passes 122* or whatever.

So if running rough during casual driving at normal throttle levels...its not the MAF.

Could pull the two caps off the top of the PCM to check for any burnt pins....

7/8" open wrench, and come out through the bottom pretty easy IIRC.

Also P0300 is random misfire, but definitely could be because of it dying and running poorly.

Okay, was able to change the front passenger oxygen sensor. The driver side I could not get off and I'm putting her on a lift tomorrow. Now my car sets off a p0154 and that's it. Minor feeling of misfiring or fuel cutting off bit it runs enough. Did I mess up?

I still really need help!!! Car runs awful and I have a p0101, p0154 x 2, and p0300. I'm willing to buy whatever to fix it, but can't stand this problem much longer. The carmcamt keep up with traffic now and I have nothing to drive.

First thing I thought, bad CATS. Will cause it to run like poo closed or open loop.

BUT... it could also be something else (your actual problem) that caused your CATS to go bad. In other words; bad O2's ,or whatever else, causing you to run rich and eventually **** up the CATS.
