Default Best paper filter?

Ac delco, fram, ect. Does it even matter or has anyone noticed a difference (preformance, longevity, price...)?

I just run the AC Delco. It seems to fit well and seals my SLP airbox just fine. As far as performance, i'm sure it flows just as well as any other paper filter.

Not sure if Fram flows better but I purchased a Fram. I took a dremel and cut out the metal screen on top of the filter. Maybe it'll flow better?

Doesn't matter much man. My STP only takes one HP on a back to back dyno.

Your not going to gain or loose any power with a different kind of air filter. k&n is b/s. It does nothing

The dirtier a K&N is the better is filters. Alot people clean their K&Ns too often. The cotton doesnt filter the air the oil does, paper filters work by being the restriction for air to move through. Paper is a better filtration media for sure but K&N and the like is about it when it comes to "performance" filters.

Not even Clint Eastwood would use a K&N filter.

Not sure why everyone on here has such an issue with K&N

The poorer flowing filters (paper) remove more particles, and the better flowing filters (cotton) remove less particles.

K&N may not "filter" as well, but the end result is better air flow, which in my opinion is highly important on an NA car. Our intakes need to scavenge as much air as possible.

If you want the big power run the K&N filter, Chip it, and a Flowmaster. You will rule the streets...

LOL...

i just recently switched from my K & N filter to a Fram filter and i cant even hardly notice the difference. The only reason i switched was just because i was too lazy to clean the KN filter..lol.

All the airflow in the world doesn't matter if you suck to much crud into your engine.

I run a bottom feeding CAI in western Iowa where everything is cornfield and dust and I wouldn't trust a K&N to filter already distilled water to be honest. They are fine if you are running a clean track or good southern roads where fine particles aren't a concern, but street driving out here, I'd prefer to know my filter is catching the fine particles.

That and I've seen some of the horror's an improperly oiled filter can cause. If you live in an area where there isn't a concern with dust or the like and you use common sense when oiling, they can be fine. I use to use one when I lived in Florida. Piece of mind though is a good fram. Never had a fitment issue, they do their job, and they are pretty cheap to replace.

I have no idea what horrors you could be referring to. Statistically, I'm sure whatever it is doesn't happen very often.

When I bought my 98mm lid from Fast Toys a few weeks ago I went ahead and got their MAC dry reusable filter. I will report back with results when the car is running.

When I bought the car it had a K/N filter in it which didn't seal inside the SLP lid very well. The previous owner did not install the supplied gasket with the filter so it was loose. I found grass on the screen of the MAF. I tossed the K/N and I picked up a FRAM and couldn't tell any difference.
