Default The new family ride TB

Well, this is the newest ride i have ever owned, scored it for 7600$ from a individual from Craigs list. Pretty loaded, leather, DVD player, premium sound, LT model, 3rd row seating was a must but of course after all of my searching, i happen to find the color i wanted and thats right, the V8 option! LOL, I refused to get a 6 cyl version. Runs decent but needs exhaust, CAI and a tune and i will be happy with it. wheels and tires might be in the future of the SUV but nothing soon.

Congrats! Get on TrailVoy.com, you find all sorts of info there. Its an LH6 aluminum 5.3L block with flat top pistons and LS6 heads. Same thing I had in my Envoy Denali.

Yea, thats what i thought, this thing is not fast by any means, and is a slouch off the go, so i will be upgrading a few things to help get the oomph into it.

btw, my wifes DOD lifters in her Envoy Denali started to go out at 70k miles. Might as well get it over with and do an LS6 cam swap like I did on hers

Is yours an '04-'05?

NO, i must refrain from doing any real mods like that, and since it is a truck/SUV i dont have too much trouble resisting. LOL

That is about what i would do if i had to tare into the engine, a small cam like that would help torque and give it a bit more get up and go i would be looking for. I really didnt know they were aluminum blocks though.

only thing that would hold me back from modding is that its an XL model not the short wheel base. Look up my name on Trailvoy, i made a thread about the cam swap. Let me know if u need help with the tune. The main thing is that u bought a nice and able SUV for the family

Cool, i will check it out.

I removed the MAF screen and did the coolant bypass today as well as clean the throttle body a bit and seafoamed the engine, MAN that bitch smoked badly, just as any other vehicle with miles on it but it took a bit longer to clear up when i drove it around the block. What do i need to eliminate as much throttle lag as i can?

Port and polish the Throttle body, the MAF too, doing those sparked my throttle response pretty well. Zane if i was you i would get a mailorder tune, got mine from Frost for 125 bucks and it beats the hell outta 500 bucks for a lifetime dyno tune

Congrats on the purchase. I wouldn't have removed the screen on a stock vehicle, and probably never even with the minor mods your planning. JMO, but they idle rougher and tend to not read as accurate with out the screen, which is there for more uniform flow and consistent reading. GL! I know you will find a million people to tell you other wise, but mine is from my personal experiences etc... You can buy another one if you get any of the described issues as GM sells it seperately for the MAF's. If not you can keep on playing with it LOL! Have fun its really a minor thing I just thought I'd let you know that little bit of info. But nice SUV for sure!

Thanks for the words man, it seems the same so far. Might change with a CAI installed for all i know, but right now it is fine. I need to find what electric fan setup i can use to replace the clutch fan setup. The clutch is bad in this one so it was getting hot. I just welded it together so it is direct connect till i get a electric fan set. What is the part i need ot get rid of some of the throttle lag? Damn drive by wire is not moy usual cup of tea, LOL.

I will do a mail order if i cannot find anything that is priced right. It is not a race ride or toy so i am not looking to spend much. Needs more power though, my 94 GMC with a TBI 350 would whoop this thing and it has 300500 miles on it.

Yeah the fly by wire are a little weird as far feeling lag, but a lot of it is in the TQ management trying to keep you from shocking the trans and everything else behind it etc... So your biggest seat of the pants feel and responsiveness will be with a good tune etc... GL!

Mailorder is the cheapest way, unless youve got the hookup from somebody around here that will street tune it for the cost of the credits
