Default New personal best...still not satisfied (timeslip attatched)

so i ran a 8.45 @ 85.87mph today, but it still doesnt seam right. i ran this 03' cobra and he beat me by 2 cars, but his run was 8.1 @ 85.19mph! WTF!!! i mean his 60' was 1.83 while mine was 2.1. does it really make that much difference? also is there any way to improve my 60' with a stock rear end and a 6-speed? my personal best so far is 2.0 60'

Yes 60' really makes that much difference. You lost ~0.3 right off the bat in the 60'.

So you were three tenths slower overall, your 60 was three tenths slower with same mph. Don't know rt of each but i don't see what there is to not understand.......

.1 difference in a 60' is often hard to reel in if your cars are evently matched. Most races are decided in the first 60'.

What tire are you on? When i had full exhuast and nittos i was in the 8.45-8.20 range on 1.80-1.95 60's. Get that quick time down and youd be surprised at how much faster your runs are. How much power are you putting down?

I was curious aout your tires too.

.3 in the 60' is easily .5-.6 at the big end.

i just picked up some Nitto NT05R's. figured i would give them a chance cause they are brand new and don't want M/T ET Streets to break my stock rear end. not sure on power but should be around 350-360 rwhp or so. also the cobra had M/T ET streets.
to verify, the thing i dont understand is that i was pulling a 9.0 @85mph on street tires. are drag radials so important that they will shave a second off an 1/8 mile time...it appears so. also my launch RPM is around 2200.

How much time it knocks off depends on how well the car Is working without them. If the car is spinning bad and not taking advantage of a goodly portion of the power its making, then yes a full second gain is possible

It should make power all the way to the limiter, so use all the rpm you can

I think you need to come out of the hole harder... it might just be me but 2200 sounds way soft. If i remember right iw as up 3K+ and would slip the clutch a tad and presto! a decent 60'

A bias ply tire is going to be easier on the rear end that a sticky radial. Either way you are going to have to slip the clutch to cut a good 60'.

I used to launch my car at 4500-5k on the 10bolt never broke one yet. Then I put in a s60 and started breaking everything in between the clutch and rear lol

Yes ,your 60 ft is where the cars that are evenly matched either win or lose a race .For every tenth off your 60ft = 2 tenths in the big end (1/4 mile). At least you have a back up ride ,,, just in case it hooks ,,TOO WELL

Careful, buddies car with a Monster clutch went to a local track that was prepped abnormally well for Outlaw cars to run on and a 3500rpm launch on Nitto 555 street tires shredded his driveshaft on the first pass.

Sometimes it doesn't take a sticky tire to break ****.

yea monster clutches are known as rear end killers, but i think i will save the money for a strange 60 or 9" then see what my stock rear is capable of. cause then when it breaks in half i can just swap them out

trans am7935,

The 60' does make all the difference. I was running an almost stock lt1 and I was scared I was going to break the 10 bolt and basically just rolled out of first gear. I was getting 2.3 and 2.4 60 foots and the best time I ran was a 14.46.

I then decided to try and slip the clutch at 3.2k and I cut a 1.9 60 foot and ran a 13.51. That is almost a full second I gained just by getting that 60 foot down. **** the 10 bolt, if it breaks it breaks.

I agree the 60ft time 99.99% tells the story. But the set up on the car works also more into the time. Tires, susp of the car, power and how you are coming out of the hole.
