I have a 1999 Firebird 3.8l daily driver and have just got a good deal on a ls3 motor with 0 miles. Its coming with all the pulleys, but i will have to get a ECM and wiring harnest and all that. i was told that the motor will bolt on to my current trans. is that true? Before i buy the engine i also want to know if it will fit with my current firebird?

Whoever told you that was wrong. You will need the V8 transmission. The only V6 that has the same bolt pattern as a V8 is the 4.3 as far as I know.

I am sure that a lot of guys on here will tell you this, just get a V8 car and be done with it. Keep the V6 for your DD. You should be able to find a decent V8 car for not much more than your new LS3.

Well the deal i got for the engine is better because the guy is my fathers friend. He is going to give me the ls3 engine with everything but the wiring and ECM for under 1500. So i had to take the challenge and i just bought a TA transmission that only has 400 miles from a guy, so im really looking forward to this task. I understand though.

I disagree.

If you're going to drive a huge car, at least make it fast.

If I got deals like that once in a while I would be a happy man. :ripped: At least I can be proud that I had to fight tooth and nail for everything I have lol.

You can pretty much hit up a junkyard and get all your mounts, drive shaft, etc. Tell me what your final bill is... I can find decent 98-02 F bodies on craigslist all day for about $5-7K.
