I know you used to be able to get a pretty good price for scrapping cats... depending on the car, the LS ones I think were pretty valuable. I've got two sets, 4 of them, and was thinking of tossing them...

The stockers are almost worthless unless someone wants to keep the stock manifold and cat setup for Cali reasons, or else they are trying to keep a restored car.

Otherwise, you can use em to kill some drone, rasp and volume for a louder setup.

I believe there is a guy on here who buys stock cats? Can't remember what he gives for them, but don't toss them because you can get some decent money for them.

About the middle of last year they were going for about $120-130. I have no idea now, but $80 sounds fair for a part you were just going to pitch anyway. I can't remember the guy that is buying them, but if you search the classifieds under WTB parts, you'll find him.

My father-in-law's 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ate up the stock catalytic converters on that truck. Being a very by the book man, wanted to replace them for emissions. GM wanted over $1800 for a new y-pipe with the flanged connections and welded OE catalytic converters. We ended up buying an off brand from Summit or Jegs for like $750-$800. I would of paid an easy $200 from someone if I knew they were still good.

I guess its down to timing and the market.

I dont think OP was really referring to them on the used part market. Metal scrap yards want them bc they have platinum in them. They cut them open and get the platinum. They dont care about the actual part.

This. They usually get 75-80$ per.

I'm holding onto mine like a greedy invester, lol. I'm going to wait until they're back up in price again. It seems like in 2008 you could get over $200 for a set. Actually, I remember thinking that at one time I could almost sell them and buy a set of used 243 heads for what cats were going for. Damn, too bad I didn't have them when they were so high. They were out of state back at my parents house. I seriously think they might have been closer to $300 for a pair. Someone correct me if my memory has served me wrong.
