LS4 Performance - Maybe getting out the LS4 game..

I went to the dealership earlier today and looked at a 06 Dodge Charger Daytona Go Mango R/T....What a ride!!!!! It's a beautiful car and it rides really good. Its not as smooth as the SS but my god is this thing fast!!! The sales lady didnt drive with me so you know i had to drive like i robbed a bank. It pushed all the way up to 130 like it wasnt nothing. Im looking to hear from them and see what they say as far as payments go..

IDK too much about these. Are they easy to mod?? I just bought my GXP like a year ago, and already I am having doubts. I really want a Camaro SS, but I owe a lot on my GXP, and buying a new Maro would put me over the limit :bomb:

Um...they are slower than LS4 cars. I've racked 4 Charger R/Ts in the monte. MOPAR= move over people are racing.

I raced a charger R/T and raped it pretty bad.....my GXP was stock at the time.

I test drove a Top Banana Daytona, before the GXP, and you see which one I chose. Plus they're bland, but that's just my opinion.

we all have our personal opinions. i have beaten a couple R/T's too but this thing is way easier to mod and is a better performance car by far. lets not forget the bulletproof transmision

Same here JP, I'm just waiting for the price to drop....In Canada there still between $28,000 to $32,000 for a used G8 GT.

I've tried many times to get out of the LS4 game..can't convince myself in the end. Its always going from a 08 to an older car with more miles, no warranty, at a higher price. Sucks when you can't sell a 08 GP GXP for more than $10k :(

when he says "more aftermarket" i think of things like - headers, catbacks, tunes, CAI, intake manifolds, headers, rockers, cam, spray, turbo's, etc,,, we have all of this stuff for LS4's too :confused:

Dude either way you look at it modding a cars,is gonna cost you a pretty penny...Just get sum headers,tune,and find yourself a good exhaust setup(cuz it seems like you change your exhaust every wknd,lol)J/P

the LS4 cars have somewhat of an aftermarket but not enough like the HEMI. im not worried about how much its gonna cost to mod it but i dont want my tranny to blow up because these trannys are sh*ty compared to dodge's transmissions. plus they have some R/T's in AWD so thats definitely a plus. dont get me wrong i love my impala but hearing everyone talk about how weak these transmissions are and blah blah blah, u would tend to go with a different car as well

I thought about the Hemi powered cars myself when I purchased my MCSS. But the looks of the Monte overcame my urge for the Hemi. That being said, if I had purchased the Hemi 4door I would probably still have it. Unlike the Monte, I ended up needing the 2 extra doors, thats the main reason I no longer have the MCSS.

Don't laugh! I have a Jetta TDI, it gets me an average of 44 MPG, that average has been over the last year not just one tank. The best MPG I have gotten outa 1 tanks has been 46.5 that was 667 miles on that tank. I figured I might as well buy something with four doors and gets some serious MPG. Just not as fun to drive! Oh well kids will do that to ya.

Totally agree. The Monte SS got way better seats.

i heard from the dealership and they were offering 10k for my impala and i had to put 3k down and my payment would be from 450-506 a month. i think im stuck with this damn thing for a couple more years :(. the guy from the dealership had lots of fun with my car and gave me compliments on it. he also said it felt faster than the ones he has in stock. so i guess thats a good thing

If not worried about money why don't you have a built tranny,headers,tune,or a turbo...Me personally I grown on my Impy,after having a V6 on dubs,systems.I needed my V8 power back,if I were to get rid of this car it would have to be a G8 GT/GXP or TBSS...other wise I love my family car, LOL...

you will lose the sleeper appeal when you get the R/T. Everyone knows about those cars and what they have.. Sure it will get you noticed more but you wont be able to surprise people anymore.

Very true it is a sleeper without a shout of a doubt. Its been countless times where i told people i was haulin a v8 and they looked at me like i was crazy, but i still would like something a little better and i cant find a G8 anywhere with a decent price at all

I worked for Dodge as a tech back in the early 2000's. Dodge's transmissions are not good at all, I've seen countless amounts of vehicles come in for trans issues.

The SRT8 is fast as hell. A buddy of mine's uncle has one and when i say that thing flies, believe me it does...It may be over 4,000 pounds, but the car moves like its not..I drool every time i see it..too bad its 40k but u do get what u pay for

Challenger is a fat pig, they look nice but don't perform up to par in my book for the price. They aren't really much lighter than the Charger SRT8, also which doesn't perform up to par in my book for the price and having that much power and only running mid 13's on average.

I do agree they're an upgrade from our LS4 cars, but for the price difference it's really a matter of opinion. I'd take a LS2 CTS-V or a G8GT/GXP over either in a heartbeat.

I just bought a 08 Impala SS in Austin Texas for a little under $20k. The car had about 3500 miles on it. Now a month and a half later I have 8600 miles on it now. It was in the dealership for a broken fan switch and a/c unit (maybe caused by a fist or two to the unit for the ticking going on). I have to bring it back in for a steering wheel rattle. Both of my SSEi's had the dame problem. There were never fixed. The hood and trunks clear coat is peeling. I know it is still under factory warranty. The car was just bought Feb of 2010 and traded in May.
Anyhow I mod all my cars! I just can not leave anything alone. That being said, a K&N cold air, magnaflow exhaust with hogan downpipe, and a Vengeance Racing tune. This thing is still slow. I have an 02 P.E. Camaro and a 06 TB SS. I rarely drive them.
I got rid of my daily driver 05 Taurus (Team Taurus) for something nice. I love the way the car looks, but as far as the performance... there is not much of it. I am kinda questioning the purchase!

Thats how i feel but i have to make due of what i have now but i swear once u drive them, u do lose interest in what u have. But the G8 GT/GXP's are hella nice but i cant afford them. Down in south jersey, they start at 25k and i cant afford that right about now.

The regular Charger R/T does look plane but if u go with a Charger R/T with the Road and Track Package (Extra 10 hp, Chin spoiler, Rear Spoiler, Leather Seats with the suede in down the middle with R/T stitched in the headrest. same interior just the like Daytonas) Daytona R/T look good as well. My wife has an '04 comp g. That car has over 100,000 and still drives like new and has (knock on wood) been a flawless, perfect car.

I'm coming back to the Pontiac world this fall for my winter car :) Can't beat 30 mpg, a warranty and a big safe car thats not ridiculously underpowered.

And to the Chrysler nutswingers: not sure for the extra $10k+ that you always "get what you pay for" Some cars are just overpriced because people will pay it. Note how much the unwashed masses were paying for my car upon its initial release.

mine had 150,000 on it and i hate to say it but it was more realiable than my 06' gxp with 87,000. only thing bad was the tranny slipping but the last 50k or more were very hard miles :drive:

i dont get what the fuss is about. i see so many chargers out on the road. usually they are the v6 models with some stupid 22" rims or some shit. i've stomped so many r/t's too that think they can play. honestly its an overweight, bland 4 door car that is underpowered and too pricey. how does that turn heads?

sure the srt-8 is the big daddy badass car and i should be shaking in my general motors issued boots. but fwiw, i yanked one when i sprayed him from a low roll. the look on his face as i walked on by was great. yeah whatever, i probably beat the driver but anything with a curb weight over 4k and "fast" are tough to combine in the same sentence. trust me, when I took out my spare, jack, subs, rear seats and ran, the monte gets its beast mode on. shows you how important weight is when building/modding a car.

There are very little good dragstrips in CA. I've run my car a total of two times at the strip and it was a pain in the ass...waiting for runs, poor track prep, expensive rental, too many ricers. Thats the thing about cars, you never know whats going to happen, you can't make speed transitive (well my GXP is faster than the SRT8 but slower then my monte because). all i know is i lined up against an SRT8 and wasn't impressed. but its not like you know my mods besides the spray or anything

A friend of mine has a charger and he gets wayyy more looks than i do but its ok. Plus the charger is RWD and u could get a r/t with AWD something these cars dont offer. The impala is a sleeper but its just too damn plain. The montes and the gxp's are nice i wish i could have one of them but i have a plain ass boring impala
