It fits on the gears but there are some visual differences, will they work together or do they both need to be from the 65e.

If you could post some pictures of what you have we might be able to help you more. In the last couple years the factory 5 pinion planet has changed and so has the reaction shaft. The late planet sets can be identified by a top hat style bearing that is now being used. Also the early bearing will not be supported by the planet in this configuration. If you have a late planet you must use the the late reaction shaft with the correct bearing. Vince

This is a pic of where I bought it. This whole kit was in the trans but the shaft has been replaced with a 4L60 one during a rebuild, part number for the current shaft is R74602.

We didn't catch that there was a difference until it was together, hence the reason I was asking if it would work, but now that you've said that there are different 5-pinions I'm even more lost on what I need.

The part number for the bearing that is in the trans is D74241B.
