Default Which exhaust is "better"

Moving to Cali for a new job; need to pass emissions. Car is a 1998 Camaro Z28 Super Sport.

Current exhaust sucks, but is:
Long Tube Headers, in-line 3" single cat, crush bent over the axle back into 2.5" into STOCK muffler.

New exhaust:
Shorty headers, remove cat from 3" and mandrel bent over-the-axle into a pretty wide open muffler if not straight through.

Gimmie an idea of the HP difference between the two???

Engine is a 383 LS1 with a 219/230 .607/.604 117

Thanks guys!

I can't say much for the rest, I am looking to pass California emissions soon too.
I can tell you that the circumference of 2 2.5" cats is 9.8" and the circumference of a single 3" is 7.06". The dual 2.5" has a circumference approximately 140% the size of the single in 3"

Shorty headers are useless IMO. For the price they are, there are just better mod you can spend your money on. Why don't you put the stock exhaust back on pass emissions then put you LT's back on?

Yeah you could do the swap every 2 year thing or you could find a shop that would "pass" it for you
What city are you moving to?

This is what I would do. I was stationed in California in the Marines but I resided in Texas so I would love when cops would see my mods and couldn't do anything about it. But I would just do the swap every 2 years. B/c I would not lose the amount of HP you would for a stupid liberal state with the dumbest laws.

Wow, my very first thread got hijacked! Does everything turn into politics? I am a Cosmopolitan Socialist Libertarian, so I will probably enjoy California as much as I have enjoyed Texas.

How much power difference the exhaust my lousy current exhaust, and a California legal exhaust? Even an educated guess would be great! - Thanks

I do thank you all for idea to run without and swap for emissions. I am just getting too old to do the swap without my son's help. I'd rather build it and leave it.
