I thought you turned the key to the "on" position but do not start the car, then press and hold the oil/trip reset button on the dash for like 12 seconds. That's what works for my car and what it says in the manual.
Trucks do the "press the accelerator" 3 times.

thats the way i do it. hold the trip/reset until the oil change light blinks, then you're all set

my old grand prix worked with the accelerator trick..... i do not own an owner's manual so gave it a shot and it turned mine off....

2002 Trans Am, and the accelerator trick works just fine..!! I doubt 99 Camaros are different, but I could be wrong. :usa:

Mine's a 2000 and the accelerator thingy worked. That's what it says in the manual. For some reason I thought it was five times. Maybe it's three times in five seconds...??? Don't remember, but whatever the manual said, I followed it and it worked like a charm.
My wife has a 98 Grand Prix, and that was the trip reset button for the oil light.

Its funny, i saw this yesterday, because my oil light came on last night. ACCELERATOR 3 times, and it was GONE!!!

I might be wrong, but i'd never go long enough to possibly see that light. How many miles before you all see the light? I change my oil early I guess. If you drive it hard.. change the oil sooner, IMO.

I'm going to try the "press the accelerator 3 times" and see if it works next time my light comes on. Maybe both ways work?
My manual definitly says press the "oil/trip reset" button on the dash and hold it for, i think, 12 seconds. And the button is labeled "oil/trip reset".
I think the light (depending on driving conditions) comes on at 5-6K miles. I change mine every 3K, force of habit I guess.

I use the accelerator trick because if you press the oil/trip button you reset the trip odometer. I like to keep track of the mileage. Besides the accelerator trick is faster and easier.

ive used both methods.but work fine.all data says to use the tripmeter method.i prefer that because my car started up roughly after using the gas pedal technique.
