I was wondering if anyone else has defects in your factory paint ? My car has runs @ the bottom of the Pass. door,Dust in the clear in a few different places. The front bumper cover has spots were there is no paint in the corner of the headlights and under the bottom.Plus the car came w/ 2 big dings in the Pass. rear quarter.Let me know what u guys have found.

Nothing obvious found yet, was a recently delivered one from May of 2010. I know ive seen a few other threads of paint issues.
Problem is this new paint standards that all the car makers are having to use.

I know my paint chips if I look at it wrong. Plus the front bumper cover is missing paint in the corners. Other than that, nothing.

A good read. You will see the "tough shit" response. I mean its not literally tough shit, but thats what I got out of it.

I would not let them paint the car over because they would probally make a mess of it but my 02 ss still has the factory paint and it is alot nicer than the 10 and then the dealership screw up my stripes also.

To be honest w/ u it is really not something most people would notice but for those of us who know what to look for u see it.The reason i wrote this thread is because i found more nits in the paint while i was waxing the back of the car.

theres a lil orange peel on the doors and the quartes are a lil darker than doors due to them being painted seperate prolly by diff. painters.
1 i think the new orange is a hard color to paint(overspray)
2 they were on a rush had to paint 15000 back to back in rush all in all i love it
as far as dings i got one in my door and one on my decklid

I think the quarter panels, I think you meant fenders are painted at the same time. The bumper covers are painted off site though.

That the car is different colors is another problem but i think only the IOM has that problem but i can live w/ that but runs, nits & missing paint in places is not easy to overlook.

well, if it was my car and it was obvious and expensive to fix and GM denied a warranty claim theyd get an estimate along with a letter from an atty. thats been known to be effective. :D

The trash can be nibbed out. Unless the paint has obvious defects and are an eye sore I would not recommend refinishing any of it. The reason the doors and the quarters are a different color is because the quarters are on a angle next to the door. And your warranty is only and good as the dealer you bought from. I have warranted paint issues on silverado and tahoe. Nothing major. But i haven't seen anything on camaro that required a repaint.

Funny thing is I was at a show this Saturday and people kept asking me if it was stock paint because it didn't have much orange peel and really shined. It's amazing what a good wax and spray detailer can do. It is really thin though. It seems like every scratch is down to the primer.
