Default 4l60e is not shifting out of 2 or 3 ?

I dont now witch it stays in when its in D but will not shift gears?
i have it in my 55 chev with a ls1?

Scan for codes first. Does it take off in 1st or does it feel sluggish on take off ? It could be in failsafe.Need more info.

no scan yet, its sluggish on take off. what would be making it be in safe mode?
im new to this stuff.

You need to get codes and go from there.Theres alot of things that could put it in failsafe thats why you need to scan first.post code #s when you get them.

You are in limp mode. My guess is that you have an electrical issue. Does your speedo work? If not, there is part of your problem. Also, do you have a high-stall torque converter? If so, you need to tune out the test for the P0757 code in the PCM. Scan for codes and let us know what you find.
