Default 6.0l Year Confusion (LY6 Pistons? Flycut)

I have a 6.0l which they guy I got it from said it was from an 07 2500HD. I didn't think it was from an 07 because it's got an iron block

Block 12577184
Heads 317
Date Code F076

It's takes an 07 oil filter (Wix 57060), it doesn't have ETC, just the regular cable setup because he changed the throttle body.

I though all 07 and newer trucks were aluminum block? I want to find out some more info on this.

No, 07 2500HDs definitely had an LY6 engine (not sure if they all came like that, but it's certainly what's in most of the ones I have seen).

The aluminum block version of that engine is the L76.

I know in Canada (not sure about the US)we have 07 2500 Classics which are like the 1999-2006 model year. Maybe that's why this is so strange.

same way in the U.S.

they made a 2007 "Classic" and a 2007 new body style probably to get rid of the stuff laying around from the 8 years of the old body style

So we took at look at the pistons last night to see if it was a LQ4 or LQ9. Well what we saw surprised us. It's got LY6 pistons. I know the LY6 is supose to have VVT which mine does not. What's up with this thing?

I wonder what the power output is.

These are not mine but what mine look like.

I wonder why it's like this? This engine has not been touched yet.
