Default Stock wheel question

So I have C6 Vette rims on my car right now. I am wanting to switch to either stock 16"s or WS6 17"s. There is a regular V6 firebird up the road from me, that has stock 16's on it. Its not a 98 model or above though. Will these rims fit my car? Also, what year WS6 rims can I use. Also, can somebody give me the width specs on these various rims. Just trying to get back close to stock on the rims. Also, just trying to add some more F-body knowledge to my brain.

thanks in advance

The 16's are 8" wide. I think the 17's are 9" wide? Maybe 9.5", not sure. I know the 98-99 model wheels need some modification to fit on earlier 4 gens, not sure about going the other way. I sold my stock 16's years ago to someone with and earlier gen 4 and they had to grind the rears just a little to fit.

Earlier 4th gen wheels will fit any 4th gen.

98+ 4th gen wheels require some light grinding to fit on the rear of a 93-97 4th gen due to a slightly larger hub on the axle.

But 8" wide wheels suck.

Exactly

FWIW: The SS/WS6 wheels are 17x9

I definitely prefer the looks of the 17"s. Why do the 16's suck?

Yeah I'm gonna take my time, and find a set of WS6 wheels. I guess anything from 96 and up will work. What is the stock tire size for these wheels?

16's - 245/50/16
17's - 275/40/17

The 17's do look better, IMHO. They just change the stance of the car.

So I've been doing some research and it seems the C6 vette wheels I have are 18X9.5 in the front. Is there not a way I could just buy 18" C6 replica wheels for the back? Also, when I barely turn my rear tires over I get wheel hop. Is this the 19" wheels and tires? Suspension or something else? Also, if I get 18"s on the rear, should I just use the same tire size on all 4 tires. Right now i've got 245/40/zr18.
