Default Driveshaft is shafting my project!

So i was attempting to put my car back together, and the slip yoke won't go all the way into the trans. I can't get the U-joints in the rearend. It is a stage 7 FLT trans just rebuilt no miles on it. The rear-end is a dana s60 with a custom driveshaft made to proper length. Now when i took it apart everything fit together as it should.

The driveshaft was tough to take out when I removed it the first time, but it came out with a little love. It is basically like the only hang up on this project so far and it is so frustrating because it fit together when I took it apart. What I am asking is does any have any input or ideas as to why I can't get this driveshaft in!

Maybe your mock up yoke was counterbored and the new one isn't?

Maybe the output was replaced with one that needs a counter bored slip yoke?
Maybe the new ext housing bushing is a little tight.

The only answer really is to take the ext housing off and see what you have there, then look at the yoke. You'll find the problem quicker that way rather than just trying to shove it in and giving up.

For some reason I was thinking this was a 4L80E you had.
What kind of transmission is it?
Still should take the ext housing off and look.

I am not really sure what is going on with damn thing, I called FLT today and they have said they have seen this issue before but i don't want to buy a new yoke.

The yoke goes into the trans about 2 3/4 of an inch, and the yoke itself is about 4inches long. Does anyone know how far the yoke should go into the trans on 4L60E?

You have many different tailshaft bushings that could have been used. Each of them being just a little different in tolerances. I'm guessing you got a new bushing that is tighter tolerance and it will have to be changed out......don't ask me how i know this!

Remove the tailhousing and see if the bushing fits over the yoke OK.

If so check the yoke on the output shaft.

The shaft could be twisted slightly and binding the yoke.

Shouldn't be twisted then

I would still check it the same way, to determine if it's the bushing or shaft.
