Default Any engine shops work with insurance?

My engine hydro-locked last night. Trying to avoid a flooded road ended up screwing me and the engine is definitely locked up. Right now it is at my buddy's body shop for the sake of the adjuster and their standard protocol. Insurance said they can move it later if need be, and I have AAA to tow it anywhere I want.

I am capable and willing to rebuild the engine myself, BUT since there is a lien on the vehicle, the insurance will probably only cut the check as a two party, either the bank and myself, or the shop and myself. So I may be limited to what I can actually get done. My perfect situation is to have the check cut directly to me, and I can get the vehicle towed home and work on it as needed, but I doubt that will happen, if its not totaled. So, once the adjuster is there from the get go, I will probably need it transfered to an engine shop that works with insurance.

Let me know what ideas/suggestions you have on how to work the angle on this particular situation and which shop to go to if need be.

I KNOW!!! I am soooo stoked! Before I bought my T/A in March of 09' I had always modded the crap out of my vehicles, i.e. a 94 Integra GSR with bolt ons and chip, a 2000 Dodge Ram w/ 10" of lift sitting on 37" Super Swampers, an 02' Mustang GT with front end Cobra kit, and bolt ons, but never got to do engine work. It was always too expensive or I didn't have the knowledge. Now I have this car which had at least H/C and now I am going to end up with a 408 stroker in it!

I can't friggin sleep at night!!

Just going off what he told Gforce "May need" not will need.

It was very nice for gforce to tell him they would work with him... But he might have worked out a deal with the insurance company that he gets what he wants because they don't have to pay for labor.

keep us updated and its good it's not totaled!!!

I worked out a deal with my old shop that would essentially sign the insurance check over to me.

Yup, called and they didn't really want to do shady work around of the insurance, which I can definitely understand and even respect!

I ended receiving all of the money from the insurance and found a brand new HKE 408 shortblock so I am picking that up at the end of the week.
so i guess i will clear my schedule for the 24th!!!

HA, I am starting tear down tonight and hope to at least get the engine seated this weekend and button everything up by Friday the 23rd or Saturday the 24th. That is unless the engine is not ready at the end of this week.

Ha, I tried to start it knowing it sucked in a ton of water, but there were cars honking and blowing there horn at me. It stalled half way up the driveway and some cars were stuck behind me sitting in the water, lol. I had to try and get her moved! It eventually did start....for a second...
