new guy!
hi guys!
my name is juan! i own a 94 "LTjuan"z28 ...ive had it for 2 years and love it! so far i really dont have anything done to it but plan on making her a bad lil street car! it has c.a.i flowmasters exhaust(that i plan to change to dynomax bullet soon) and a tranny rebuild by TGMS great guy and great work! (http://www.topgearms.com/)
i just finished installing a opti,icm,coil,w.p,radiator... car runs great and i enjoy driving it, and saying im a FBODY owner... i plan on doing some LT'S next...so my first question is "can i pass emissions if i have LT's and still keep all emission connections and cats?" will it mess with the sniffer test if i have LT's? thats a better way of asking my question. well i hope to learn from u guys, and also have some fun! thanks for ur time and feedback !

Im in SoCal and emission/smog check is everything! although i pay someone under the table to get it passed
If you plan to go fast don't bother getting the LT with emission hook-up just get regular LT's. If this will be a street car i would just keep stock exhaust manifold or go with emission legal mid length headers, because those have better ground clearance and usually have no problem passing if they come with CARB numbers. But it all depends if they do testing in your area that's bottom line.

on the other side of that argument though it is usually much cheaper and easier if you actually pass the emissions portion of the test and you only have to grease their palms for the visual. And to answer your question yes a heads/mild cam 383 with long tubes and high flow cats will pass the sniffer IF it is tuned correctly.

Not true as removing EGR and AIR from the car will DO NOTHING HPwise. You will just gain about 20# weight loss if you're going to track the car. The AIR pump only runs at startup to heat up the CAT if you have one. The main advantage of removing this stuff is freeing up all the clutter under the hood and more room to change plugs and route wires - that's it.
Most emission/smog checks out here want to make sure all the emission components from the underhood labe is on the car not just the emission/smog coming out of the tail pipe. Every state and city/county/area has there own way of checking. I was referring to my area.
That is why i ended my statement with "But it all depends if they do testing in your area that's bottom line."
and if they were to do the test, depends what method they use to test as stated above. Ive heard some area's they don't even do tail pipe check, they just open the hood look shut it, take your money and you pass.

Looks like your area they are checking for all emission componenets (pop the hood/check) including the cats (with the mirror).
Short and mid length headers with CARB nubmer will almost always be able to pass (for visual inspection). Some states will pass the long tubes, i would be sure to check before getting them if that's something you want. As far as i know long tubes don't have CARB numbers, i have yet to see one that does.

I don't think you are going to find a CARB number for any LTs, since I don't believe they are emissions legal anywhere. If you keep the single cat (in the case of a 94) in the same position, it might pass (depending on local treatment), but that defeats the whole purpose of LTs.
