So my lights are flipping and grinding on my 01 trans Am, so that means the gear is stripped in the headlight motor. So i am going to do the free fix on it by flipping the gear over but here is the problem. I work doubles all days this week and come home and crash so i am going to save this little project and a few more for the my days off in a week. Problem is the damn noise is incredibly irritating.

What I wanted to know is if there is a fuse I could pull to stop this until my day off or a way to prop the lights up permanently. Or a plug where the motor links up that i can disconnect while the lights are up that will let the lights still run. I don't mind if the fix causes the lights to just not open, i have 5000k HID on the fogs so I see perfect at night with just the fogs.

In the upper underhood fuse panel, each headlight motor has it's own fuse. I think they are called H/L door. When the lights are up, just pull the 2 fuses. They will stay up. And the headlights will still work like normal.

on the outside of the fusebox on the left side (looking at the car from the front) there is the headlight control module, disconnect one or both of the weatherproof connectors and the headlight motors are disconnected. One has 4 wires and one has 5 if my memory serves me correct.

Once this is disconnected the headlight motors will stay in the current position. I would turn the lights on and disconnect with them up to make sure you do not have any issues with the cops.
