Default Which Tire will perform better with SS Yank 3600

I just ordered my converter from Dave at Yank the other day and currently i have a set of Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radials that are 295/55/15<27.8>

My previous tire was a 315/35/17<25.8> Nitto E/P and i ran a best of 13.04 @ 107.88. This was without a converter.

Once i went to the track with the the 27.8 inch tires i Lost 5mph<102.46> and my 60ft's were nothing to speak about.

So my question is should i go to a 275/50/15 DR <26.0> or should i keep the 27.8 inch DR's?

Thanks for all your thoughts...

The smaller tire, with your mods, will probably be better.

Yes, the lower your trap speed the smaller the tire you need to get the RPM up as fast as possible. You don't need a tall tire unless you're trapping so high that you're running out of gear in 3rd. You are a long way from that.

The economy is a bit rough, so it might be hard to sell them.

Exactly !! You could slap-chuck some 456's in the rear and keep the tall tires ? J/K of course

Default Tires

Great new's i sold the tires on ebay and ordered the 275/50/15's M/T Drag Radials...

My converter from Yank gets installed on the 27th of this month.I will take the new rubber and SS 3,600 Yank to the track on the 30th...

I will hopefully update my signature with a better ET and 60ft time....

Thanks for all your inputs!

^Yes, I'm thinking about getting that converter if it can shave about .5 off of my 1/4 ET. Keep us posted.

Mine took 6 tenths off and it was a lot hotter that day than my previous best . If your going 13.0 now , figure on 12.4's with decent air and traction .

Yank ss4000 and 373's . My previous runs were at -85 d.a. . For my runs with the new stall it was @ +1428 da . My converter should have netted a 8 tenth gain or better if the air was the same as last time .

Yes , Stock 10 bolt with motive 373's .Running 315 35 17 Nitto 555r's ( Drag radials ) on heavy OE ZR1 wheels . My best 60 ft is only a 1.72 ( 3 times in a row ) .I hoping my new LT headers ,removing the ft sway bar and a little weight reduction will help my 60 ft and et .

I have a set 0f 1 3/4 hooker headers ans a texas speed catted y pipe . Im running a Magnaflow cat back right now . Its perfect for what I wanted . Quiet when cruising , but sounds great when Im in the throttle .
