Default Slightly chipped (new) 4:10 ring and pinion

Brand new (well, 6 years old but never used), with a 3/8th inch chip on one of the pinion gear groves. Ring appears to be fine, just a small amount of rust.

I'm basically getting them for free ($10 lol) from a former LT1 TA owner, but are they worthy to install?

If I decide not to install them, would they garner a decent profit?

With the chip and the rust, they're worth scrap price.

Well the reason I would like to see a pic is because if the chip is out on the corner of the tooth where there is no ring gear contact it prob will not be an issue and the gear can be used. if it is in the contact portion of the tooth i would prob steer away from using it, even it was 100% free.

Well based on that first response, I haven't bought them yet. I guess for $10 I really can't go wrong, so I'll buy them. 4:10's are a little steep for my liking, so I'll offer them up for trade or sale. I'll get some pics up by mid-week. Thanks for the replies fellas.

Cause I feel sorry for deformed parts, they need love to. For only 10 bucks, it was like a sore peter, you just can't beat it. Seriously though, if they aren't up to snuff, I'll make some purdy wind chimes out of 'em.
