Default My vert's roof was slit!!!

Hey y'all,
I need some advice. (I did post this on another forum, so I apologize if you are reading this for the second time.) I got in my convertible today and noticed a wind noise like the window was cracked open. So I looked and there was a 5" gash in my roof right over the passenger seat! It went through all the layers of the cloth top. When I got out of the car I noticed a clean, straight line cut along the length of the top of the passenger side window, about one inch away from the top's window gasket. I'm thinking someone tried to break in, but the alarm went off. Nothing to steal inside my car anyway (maybe the CD changer, but its still there). The odometer was also reset to zero, but I'm hoping I can attribute that to the computer. I haven't noticed it before, but I just don't know.
Does anyone know if the top can be repaired? Or does it have to be replaced? I also need cost estimates and places around NC or MD that could do this. Thanks, and I really appreciate your help. I just can't shake that sick feeling...

Mike

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. If it was someone that actually cut your top that's really F'ed up. I'm thinking that if it went all the way through the top, you might be better off getting the top replaced.
Would insurance cover it?

insurance will definitely cover it. check out to see how much it is to get it repaired. if it is less than your deductabel with your insurance company, then pay it out of pocket. if it is more, file a vandalism claim with your incurance company and tehy will take care of it. hope that helps

some people are really screwed up and have zero respect for other peoples stuff.. sorry to here but you insurance should cover it.. It can be patched but its not going to look all that great (unless there is some new spiffy technique that I havent heard of)

Good luck

That happened to my MGB 22 years ago. Sorry it happened to you. If you end up replacing it, tbyrne.com may still have the black Camaro top for $600.00

That sucks man! Some people are just jealous ********, and need to be shot. Oops, did I type that on the 'net. Oh well. Someone did the same thing to my cousin's '95, and his tan top was mint. He just bought it last year I think. I would also think that the insurance would pay it, as long as you have a police report or something.
