Absolute biggest tire?
I have spent hours looking for the answer to these 2 questions through other threads so I will just ask

I want to know the largest tire I can put on my 99 WS6 with the stock 17" WS6 rims. I have 275/40R17 now which is stock size. Wanting to go bigger all the way around. Car is bone stock as far as suspension components. Not lowered - it is just like it was off the production line.

If I upgrade to an aftermarket 18" rim (gunmetal grey C6 Z06 rim) I would like to know the exact offset and rim width front and rear to keep the tires/rims in the same spot as the stock look when viewing the car from the side. Would use spacers and use bfh if I had to. Also, I would not be opposed to upgrade other suspension parts to make room. I really like the factory position of tires/rims and would like to add the extra width of the tire to the inside of the fenders if you know what I mean. No fender rolling on my car!
Thanks!

Most guys on here will tell you that on the stock WS6 rims which are 9" wide the biggest tire to safely run is a 285 which is only marginally bigger than stock. As for 18" C6 Z06 rims our sponser OEWheels sells sets I think 9.5" up front and 10.5" out back. Their offsets are built for our cars I believe 56mm for the rear and 54mm up front but I could be wrong. With 10.5" out back you can run fat tires though I wouldnt go bigger than 315's. Hope that gives you some insight.

Absolute biggest tire?
The 315/35R17 has virtually the same circumference and sidewall height as the 275/40 R17 the only difference being the width - it is 1.5" wider (approx). Please explain why that would look retarded.
There are some on the forum with 315's on their stock rims and do fine. I know it is not "recommended" but can't it be done?

But 17 x 11 would be best, just to get more of the 315mm's to touch the ground.
I'd say widen your stock rims to 11 inch would be the cheapest way to go. About $400-$500 is what to expect to pay.

Oh, just an FYI.
A few months back at the beach a guy showed up with his new 315's on his car with 17 x 9's. He had 275's up front. We had him roll through some water with all 4 tires so we could measure the tread pattern on the ground to see exactly, without argument how much more tread was on the ground in the rear.
Just about 30mm, maybe a hair more. So you lose about 10mm by mounting them on 17x9's. But you gain 30mm, more than an inch of rubber on the ground, per tire.

I personally wouldnt run a 315 on a 9" or even 9.5" wheel. Yes it has been done, but like LS6 said, you wont be getting the full foot print down like you would on an 11" wheel. a 285/40-17 is a much better option as far as im concerned.

Nobody is going to help you because it is obvious you are only going to listen to what you want to hear. If you want to be a fool and put a tire that is way to wide for the wheel and bulges and looks stupid while you justify in your own brain that is the phattest coolest looking thing around then go ahead. Fool yourself and everyone else will be laughing at you. If you want to listen to reason and people that have nice setups done right, then opwn your ears and listen to what people are telling you. Do it right or don't do it at all.
